linking qb with my bank (Barclays)

Hi,  I have been using QB Self Employment since 2017,  I have today linked to my business bank account and now have an almost duplication of all transaction I have manually entered since last August.  Is there any way to tell QB to only link my account from this day to go forwards?

Its a great shame as all transactions I have manually entered/snapping receipts etc. over the past 6 months are now sat alongside the imported transactions that don't have such.   Also going forward am I to not snap my receipts (fuel etc.) until the banking goblins work their magic over the inter web and add my transaction automatically?

Hello and welcome to Community pumpmonkey.

When connecting the bank for the first time this normally provides an option of when you would like to import from normally up to the last 90 days dependent on the number of transactions although I have seen it go as far back as a year this all depends on the details given to QuickBooks from the bank on request. Disconnecting the bank will remove anything imported by the bank leaving anything manually created in the system. In terms of updating following transactions QuickBooks will usually only import from the date of last transaction of the last update.

We are always looking at ways in which we can improve our customers experiences we do this using feedback form our users which can be submitted on this link here.

Hi,

I have tried all afternoon and can not see anywhere with regards to the 'option of importing from date', as previously mentioned, it has imported the past 6 months which isn't very good.

I have also noticed the subscription has crept up since January, its a shame as i really used to like this app but it got my tax way out, for a first time self employed user... I think I may have to look elsewhere to find better suited software.

Hey,

I've done some double checking, and the reason behind why the banking system pulls in all of the transactions is a direct result of feedback from our users, who didn't want to have to manually import transactions. We'd encourage you to add the feedback that you feel this amount as excessive, using the link above in EdwardR's post.

If however, the duplication have occurred as a result of our system pulling in double, rather than there being previously manually added transactions, or previously manually imported through CSV; I'd like to investigate this further in your account.

Please let me know if the duplication have occurred as a result of the connection, or because the transactions were previously, manually added/imported in.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

It's not pulling in double... its simply duplicated what i had already entered manually aver the past 6 months.   Having only just been set up for mobile banking I thought it would be good going forward to automatically capture my account activity.  Unfortunately it will as you say pulled in all of my transactions.   Surely I am not alone in having used QB for over a year and now want to add the banking feature?

The Link in the previous post was confusing to me as it mention home screens, invoicing etc. but I couldn't see where to raise a new post in an appropriate category!

thanks again

Hi Pumpmonkey,

You're not, i expect, but (and i say this from a technical support role) the vast majority of our customers connect their online banking immediately and give positive feedback that the bulk of the transactions have came through. I'm surprised the bank didn't shoe-horn internet banking on you from day one, i know mine did; citing "paperless business" or something like that. With regards to the feedback, that post is primarily for our QuickBooks Online, which is why it's unfamiliar to you, but just post it anywhere, we'll include it in our self employed reports, we can see all new posts and we collate that information to feed back to engineers regularly.

For any duplicated ones, tick them using the left hand bar, and exclude. You can mix reviewed and unreviewed transactions when you sort ALL by date, so you can easier identify duplicates. I speak from experience in this, but i wouldn't be surprised if the process of double checking you find the odd one or two incorrect or missing, I'll say big well done if you don't! :)
