Hello, cdukservices.

This isn't the experience we want you to have. I understand how important sales orders are for you, especially for a business with inventory.

In my opinion, including this option in QuickBooks Online is a fantastic idea. I'm not sure how many QBO users will benefit after this enhancement. I'd suggest submitting a product suggestion so that our Product Development team can look at it. They'll be able to incorporate it in a future update once it's been approved.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear or Cogwheel icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your product suggestion.
  4. Once done, hit Next to submit.

In the meantime, you may consider what Fiat Lux - ASIA provides to look for a third-party application or try an inventory management app. You can use this page to find an app that meets your business needs. QuickBooks Apps.

I've added this article for future reference on how to convert an estimate into an invoice: Convert an estimate into an invoice in QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for your question, @cdukservices. I'm here to answer your concern about Sales Orders.

At the moment, Sales Order is only available in the Desktop version of QuickBooks. You can use an Estimate instead. And since this is a non-posting transaction, it won't affect your inventory.

It will only count when you apply an Estimate to an Invoice or Sales Receipt.

To get more insights, you can visit this article: Create and send estimates in QuickBooks Online.

I'm also inviting you to send feedback requesting that this feature be available in the future. Go to the Gear icon and select the Feedback option.

@cdukservices

Consider using a 3rd party app to have the SO feature and integrate it with your QBO account.

Why? I pay over £30 per month for each of 3 companies for a deficient piece of accounting software. Why should I pay more for an app to plug a gaping hole in qbo. And that’s not the only deficiency. Where’s GRNI or PO customisation?

I already use estimates but as you say it does not integrate with inventory however that’s what a proper inventory system should do in order to track stock commitments - that’s my problem.

If inventory doesn’t tract sales order commitments you always run the risk of stock outs

If you only need to manage up to 50 orders/month, you can use an inventory management app for free. You will use a connector to integrate with QBO.
