Reconnecting my bank error 355

Hi all,

So i am trying to prepare my VAT and my bank feed will not update.

I have tried multiple times, and it says there is a connection but an error code 355.

I recently lost my card and cancelled it, and am waiting for a new one so I am not sure if this has an effect, however I am still able to log into my banking online regardless of my card. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks so much

I've got your back, @wesleyharriott.

This error means that only partial info is pulled through from a bank's API, thus throwing account in error state 355. To get this fix, let's run a bank update to refresh the connection.

Before we start, may I ask for the bank account you're trying to reconnect with QuickBooks? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Here's how:

  1. Click Banking from the left menu.
  2. Select the appropriate bank account from the list.
  3. Hit the Update button.

If the issue persists, let's update your sign-in information to reconnect your bank account. Let me walk you through the steps.

  1. Click Banking from the left menu.
  2. Select the appropriate bank account from the list.
  3. Click on the pencil icon then select Edit sign-in info.
  4. Input your login credentials, then click Update.

Please let me know if you need clarification about this, or there's anything else I can do for you. I'll be standing by for your response. Have a great day.

Reconnecting my bank error 355

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your thoughts on how to resolve this.

So updating it does not work, the transactions do not update and the balance of my account for some reason sits at zero. When I tried to update my login credentials there is actually no option for me to update sign in info, it just says edit account info.

I have attached an image to show you what I mean.

to answer you prior question, the account is a HSBC business account.

Thanks so much,

Ricky

Reconnecting my bank error 355

Hi,

Thanks for your message, so I have tried to download my transactions from my bank, in the CSV format and everytime I try to upload this it says the upload is not in the right format. I have attached a picture. I am beginning to loose my mind with this a bit as nothing seems to be working and I really need to submit my VAT. Any movement or thoughts on how to get this fixed would be so appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Hello, wesleyharriott.

Let me help you go over to your transactions and have them imported into QuickBooks.

Before importing your downloaded transactions, you might want to review your CSV file and be sure to remember the following to import them successfully:

  • Remove zeroes (0) from the file and leave those cells blank.
  • Correct any transactions that display a number in the Description column.
  • Remove the word amount if it appears in the name of the Credit or Debit column (Credit amount and Debit amount are incorrect).
  • Correct and standardise the Date format to a single format (for example, dd/mm/yyyy).
  • Some banks provide the day of the week and include it in the Date column (for example, 20/11/2018 TUE), which is not an acceptable format. To correct this, split the date and the day of the week into two separate columns:
  • Highlight the column that contains the date.
  • Go to Data then select Text to Columns.
  • Follow the Convert Text to Columns Wizard, choosing the following:
    • Original data type: Delimited
    • Delimiters: Space
    • Column data format: General
  • Select Finish.

After that, you can try to upload your transactions again into QuickBooks. You can get more details in this article: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

You can also check this article for the steps to resolve the common error when importing your transactions: Common errors for importing bank transactions using CSV.

Let me know how the result of this troubleshooting in the comment below. I need to make sure this is resolved and you're back to running your normal business processing. All the best!

I'm here to make sure this gets resolved, @pearcebindbq.

The stored cache can affect the performance of QuickBooks which can cause unexpected behavior. Let’s perform some basic troubleshooting steps to make sure the issue isn’t browser-related. It’s possible that local internet cache files are the reason why don't get the Edit sign-in info button.

Let’s start logging in to QuickBooks using a private window. Here’s how:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + P

Then, go back to the Banking menu and check the button from there. If it shows, you need to clear your browser’s cache. Here’s an article to help you with the process: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files?

As an alternative, make sure to use other supported browsers to get the best out of your QuickBooks experience.

Once done, you can follow the steps shared by my colleague Mark_R on how to update your sign-in information.

In case you don’t see your recently downloaded bank transactions in QuickBooks Online, then you can follow the troubleshooting steps provided in this article to fix the issue: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

If you're about to categorize and reconcile your account, I've included an article that will guide you in keeping your QuickBooks accounts accurate:
