Spaces are a tool within Starling bank accounts that allow you to pidgeon hole money into 'sub' accounts so that it cant be accidentally withdrawn upon (e.g. putting funds aside for tax). The money is still in the one account but your actual balance is adusted accordingly when you move money into spaces, so the balance is lowered and this 'transaction' shows up in quickbooks. I dont want it ahowing up in quickbooks.
Thanks for coming back and providing us an in-depth details about the Spaces tool within Starling bank accounts, davis-gtengineer.
We use Starling Spaces to allocate funds for different financial purposes. This allows you to easily track your progress toward each goal and manage your finances. Also, a unique way to save funds towards specific goals is by allocating money into different “Spaces” (similar to “pots”) of savings, which are separated from the main account balance.
If you need to switch from Starling Bank feed to Starling Bank without Spaces, your suggestion is right. We need to disconnect your current Starling Bank account. Then, we can select the Starling Bank (without spaces) option when reconnecting. This option does not include any transaction movement (round-ups or manual transfers) and is a great option if you want to keep your finances separate (but don't need the extra functions that come with Spaces). To learn more about this one, you can check out this article: Linking your Starling Bank account to QuickBooks Online.
In addition, learn how you can reconcile your account to ensure that the actual amount of money spent matches the amount shown leaving an account at the end of a fiscal period. You can refer to this article for additional information: Reconcile An Account In QuickBooks Online.
