Good to have you back, lucia4. How are you these days?
Good work on doing the first part. I'll show you where to find the + Add New option so you can register the cash received during a trading event.
You can find it when you click the drop-down arrow (or menu) under Deposit to in the sales receipt window. Here's a screenshot:
If it's not showing (or the menu partially shows the content without it), we can do the following steps to resolve it.
Try refreshing your browser by pressing the F5 key. You can also close and reopen it. In the event that it doesn't work, then it's likely a webpage issue. We can use a private or incognito window to confirm this:
Go to the login page, then sign in to your company. Once done, try opening the sales receipt again then check to see if the + Add New button appears on the Deposit to drop-down menu.
When it does, let's go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Close and reopen it after clearing to complete the process.
Alternatively, you can try using other supported browsers. If you happen to use the QuickBooks Online Windows or Mac app, you can click on the Help menu (the one on the taskbar), then select Reset App Data. Then, close and reopen it after.
I'm sure you're excited to know how much you've earned from the trading event. After registering the sales receipt, you can pull up a report by going to Reports from the left panel. Then, select a variety of reports from there (the Profit and Loss, for example).

Hi Lucia,
Welcome to the Community :waving_hand:
You can enter these sales using a sales receipt (+ New > Sales receipt).
On the receipt, you can leave the customer field blank, or create a new customer for this for tracking purposes, e.g. with the name 'trading event'.
Enter the date, and under the 'Deposit to' account enter a Cash account (you can create on here if you don't have one already by selecting '+ Add new' on the drop-down, and creating an account with the Detail Type 'Cash at bank and in hand' and Account Type 'Cash on Hand').
You can then enter multiple lines with the separate products and amounts.
Thanks
Hi,
I need to do the same thing, but I don't see a +New > Sales Receipt - which page is this? I'm looking at the transactions page where the only option seems to be 'Add Transaction', but after doing this there isn't a category Sales Receipt. I'm using QuickBooks Self-Employed - is this significant?
Thanks
Hi there, Neil Richards.
There are different versions of QuickBooks. Also, some features aren't available to all.
The Sales Receipt feature is only available in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. You can only create an invoice in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
You can make use of the Transactions tab to manually record all your transactions. You can also connect your bank or credit card account so that all your transactions will automatically reflect on your QuickBooks Self-Employed account. Then, all you need to do is categorise them.
You'll want to check our Plan and Pricing page to see the difference between QuickBooks Self-Employed and QuickBooks Online. In addition, I've added these articles for more details about handling transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed:
Please reply again to this thread if you have other clarifications. Wishing you all the best!
