I'm glad to see you in the Community, eddie-paterson.
Let me help and guide you through the process of linking timesheets in an employee portal to a project. We'll have to auto-import your employees' information from QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll to QuickBooks Time. Alternatively, import data from QuickBooks Time into QuickBooks.
Here's how:
Next, invite the employee and grant them access to QuickBooks Time. When an employee has time program access, they must navigate to the Projects option on the left panel to view the list of projects.
Here's how an article that discusses in detail how you can set up time estimates to track the progress made on a project: Set up and use projects in QuickBooks Time.
Furthermore, the following links provide detailed information on the integration process and how to run a profitability report to track labor costs:
Fill me in if you have any clarifications about integrating QBO with the timesheet program or other product-related concerns. I'm always ready to assist you further. Have a good one.
Thankyou for your response.
However, I think Ive used an incorrect reference - Im not using a separate timesheets programme. Ive just activated time sheets within QBO, set up as work type and enabled it in the employee portal. So I can log into the portal and selected the work type and enter hours worked. I can go into projects and add empyloee time there. What I cant get is the two to work together - ie login to the employee portal and see a range of projects to use and then have that data feed through to projects.
Hello Eddie-paterson, So you can't add/select the project when you login the way you are doing it, from the app, what you can do is use the weekly timesheet in New+ as if, you add the employees as time tracking users you can login and allocate the work to a project/customer and make it billable, you can also export and import the timesheets into payroll, if you have advanced payroll.
Well thats very dissapointing - spent hours trying to figure it out for nothing.
QBO have some great stuff, but dont quite finish each enhancement off.
