Hi Lucia, there's currently no way to delete or deactivate a tax agency, the solution would be as per the post above to deactivate the tax codes associated with this agency so that it is not used. :)
Hi there, lubru.
Welcome back to QuickBooks Community. I'll make sure to provide details on how a custom tax agency works in QuickBooks Online.
Currently, there is no way to delete a tax rate or a tax agency in QuickBooks Online. If you no longer need or use them, you can deactivate or rename the tax agency.
Here's how:
Please refer to this article to see a different list of common VAT codes in QuickBooks Online that automatically set up by the system: Common VAT codes.
Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns. Wishing you and your business continued success.
Thanks, but it is NOT a tax code I want to delete or deactivated.
It is an additional 'tax agency' I have created by mistake.
Please see attached screenshot.
Is there any way I could deactivate it, or the only way is for me to call the helpline?
Thanks, Lucia

Thanks, Georgia, but that's not a 'solution'....
Hi QBs, just wondering if you have now implemented the system so that a 'Custom tax agency' created by mistake can be deleted/made inactive? I have requested the change more than 2 years ago.....Thanks, Lucia
Hello Lubru, thanks for posting on this thread, you can't delete or make tax agencys inactive only the custom made tax codes/rates, we appreciate you have left this as feedback a while ago now we have also passed this onto the team as feedback.
It is 2023 and still no solution for it!
And the worse part is, I can not make inactive the Accounts on the COA that was linked to the tax codes created previously, even though the tax codes are inactive.
What makes the client posting to the wrong account some times.
That is really frustrating that QBO hasn't come up with a solution yet. It should at list be away for us to contact QBO and get it done from the back end.
Looking forward for this solution soon!
Thanks,
