Idea Exchange: Getting Started

Do you have ideas? We want to hear them

You can share ideas or feedback about QuickBooks by submitting ideas in our Idea Exchange.

Click here for the QuickBooks Idea Exchange board.

How does it work?

1. You have a great idea on how to improve QuickBooks
2. You submit your idea on the Idea Exchange board applicable to you
3. Fellow community contributors will vote or comment on your idea
4. The Community Management and product development teams will review and make appropriate updates on your idea, either moving the idea forward or rejecting it

Are there any best practices to submitting ideas?

1. Be descriptive. Use as many words as you need to to tell your story
2. Stick to the subject. Make sure your idea is relevant to how to improve QuickBooks UK
3. Engage in thoughtful discussion with other community members. Not everyone may understand your idea at first, be ready and willing to have thoughtful conversations about your idea with others

How does my idea reach Intuit?

We consider an idea popular once it reaches 50 votes. All ideas with 50+ votes are shared with our product teams. Ideas below 50 votes may be reviewed at Intuit’s sole discretion.

What do the statuses mean?

New - This idea is new and has had no attention from the community/development teams.
Open for Voting - This idea has been around for more than 30 days and is no longer considered "New". Make sure to share your idea to others; the more votes it has, the more likely it is to be reviewed by our development team.
Needs more information - The community/development team is interested in this idea, but we need more information.
Under review - The community/development team is interested in this idea and we’re currently exploring the logistics of implementing this idea.
Accepted - This idea has been accepted by the community/development team and we are working with development to implement this idea into the product.
Closed - This idea is not considered an enhancement and we will not be moving forward with this idea.
Phased roll-out: Implemented - This idea is continually being improved upon.
Implemented - This idea was submitted by a community member and approved. This idea has been implemented in the community/the product.

Where did my idea go?

Ideas will be archived after 3 years if it does not receive more than 50 votes.

Well done, much needed, focused feedback section.

This would be great, but unfortunately the linked page doesn't work properly - only 1 page can be accessed.

Clicking the page numbers at the bottom just reloads the same page 1.

Clicking 20 or 40 (bottom left - to show more posts per page) loads a greyed out page 1. No more posts are visible.

People's feature requests and 'great ideas' cannot be seen and cannot accumulate the 50 votes required for Quickbooks to consider implementing them.

Please look at repairing and resolving this as currently the QuickBooks feature request and idea suggestion system does not work.

Hello Jsse, Thank you for your feedback.  We are currently looking to pinpoint the technical issue you have raised with us as it does not seem to be effecting all customers.  We appreciate your patience with this as we are still in the soft launch phase. Rest assured we are working with our teams to address any issues or concerns.

Hi klous-1, thanks for notifying us that you're also experiencing this issue. Are you using a Mac or Windows (or other) device to access QuickBooks Idea Exchange?

Windows 10, tried both Chrome and MS Edge (and tried Private window, i.e. with no extensions).

Web console shows a 403 error on this resource (i.e. I think your server is blocking access):

Doesn't work on Android Chrome either.

Thanks for getting back with those details, klous-1. We've fed this back to our team, and we'll update this thread once we have further information.

Idea Exchange: Getting Started

Another 2 weeks have passed since the last comment here - still no update, no improvement or fix.

So far there are several users who have confirmed that this Idea Exchange isn't working - nobody has yet confirmed that it works for them.

This has not worked for several months now & nothing seems to be being done about it.

QB support just keep saying "we'll feed this back to the team and will post an update" - but this doesn't seem to be happening.

This is a software company in which people are trusting their sensitive accounting data - and yet they are not able to manage & fix a basic forum page? This doesn't look good for you Quickbooks.

I hate being negative but it is pretty hopeless.  I really wonder if they even employ a single web developer.

Idea Exchange: Getting Started

It is quite shocking how little care and consideration the QB team seem to have for their customers experience of their product and of their website and their forum.

It is starting to look as though they have no intention of fixing the forum, or the ideas exchange or the feature request system.

It appears to be a fake forum to give the impression that there is some customer support & care - when actually there is not.

So far, from Quickbooks customer support I have received dishonest answers, misleading answers, incorrect information & a general lack of care in how the customer support are responding, with cut & paste responses that don't relate to the questions that I have asked and QB support replies are repeatedly contradicting the information that is provided in the software itself.

They now appear to have stopped responding altogether.

Months have passed with no fix to any of the issues that have been raised by myself and other customers.

Can someone from Quickbooks please clarify for us what will be done about this and when.

(please don't reply again that you don't know - it is your job to know - or to find out from someone who does!).

Hi @JSSE and everyone else who may be wondering about the developments of the Idea Exchange board.

I do apologise for the lack of activity on the Idea Exchange board. I am responsible for this board and had the initial idea to bring it to the quickbooks community. I still plan to bring this board to life where quickbooks customers can share their ideas with each other, as well as our internal Product teams. With that said, I have been out as I welcomed my first baby boy into the world. He arrived early so it was a matter of dropping practically everything - without warning -  and being there for my family. Now, me having a baby isn't your problem and I totally get that, but it does explain why you haven't seen as much progress here. Today is my first day back and this board is top of my list. @JSSE  I have noted your points raised about the voting system and I'll be notifying our engineering team about today.

I'm sorry once again and if you do have any further questions, please let me know as I'd be happy to help.

Hello JackS,

Thanks for your message - and congratulations on the birth of your baby boy.

Thanks for your clear reply and for helping to move this situation forward. I look forward to hearing back with an update & hopefully some progress on the issues raised here.

@JackSCongratulations on the baby boy.

You need to get the forum fixed too as it's 100% totally broken. I posted on the 20th of December along with @JSSE it definately needs fixing, and promoting. Hopefully in that order!

Thanks both @JSSE  @Mark .

Just so you're aware, I've raised this with the engineering team who helped me launch the Idea Exchange Board. I've started with the pagination issue with how it greys out when you select a new page. I've included this thread along with  @Mark Armistead 's as evidence (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-uk/other-questions/ideas-exchange-forums-issues/01/13...).

Once I hear an update on this, I'll post a reply here.

Hi @JSSE  and @Mark Armistead, I understand that the issue with the greyed out page when selecting different pages towards the bottom of the board is now fixed. Can you please validate that from your end? If you're still seeing the same problem, can you please let me know and I can report it once more? Thanks!

Hi JackS,

it's not fixed from my side - it does exactly the same thing as before...

Clicking more posts per page (bottom left) results in a greyed out page.

Clicking next page or any page number (bottom right) just reloads the same page.

Only page 1 is accessible. Only 10 posts per page are possible.

Furthermore - it's very unclear how to find the page - I am having to access it by clicking links in emails - I can't see how to find it otherwise.

Thanks for verifying @JSSE, I have raised this again and I will update as soon as I hear further info

Hi @JSSE  & @Mark Armistead this issue has now been escalated from our engineering team. We're working to fix the code so that the pages for the Idea board work. We're communicating with 3rd parties which is why it hasn't been as straightforward as an over-night fix, but we do have a team looking to resolve this.

Also @Mark Armistead, I get your point around the promotion of the idea exchange board and making it more easily accessible. This is something that I've raised and will become a priority after we fix the pagination issues.

Thanks JackS,

It is surprising that a software company who is trusted with customers business accounting information and sensitive banking information and personal data are not able to sort a simple pagination issue without 3rd party support - this really shouldn't take long to resolve.

And yes - the board being more visible and accessible is important - it doesn't really have any function or purpose otherwise - which seems to have been the case since it was set up 3 months ago.

Hi JackS,

Do you agree that:

It is surprising that a software company who is trusted with customers business accounting information and sensitive banking information and personal data are not able to sort a simple pagination issue without 3rd party support - this really shouldn't take long to resolve.

And yes - the board being more visible and accessible is important - it doesn't really have any function or purpose otherwise - which seems to have been the case since it was set up 3 months ago.

Another week has now passed since any update here - no update, no progress, no improvement.

Would you say that this is down to a complete lack of care or a complete lack of competence?

Hi @JSSE , I have had an update today as of 7:30am that the issue with the pages blurring out grey has now been resolved. Are you able to verify your end if that is the case for you?

Please let me know if you do/don't see a fix and we can put in necessary actions from there.

Thanks

Jack

Thanks JackS,

It has improved - but I wouldn't call it fixed. Have you tested it yourself?

Yes, it is now possible to access more than just 1 page - congratulations on achieving this after 3 months!

But - if you access a post/thread on page 3 (for example), when you click back to the board you are taken back to page 1. This is not very helpful or effective.

If viewing a post on page 3, clicking back should take you back to page 3.
