Import your products and services to QuickBooks

If you sell products and services, we recommend you import your products and services list with the respective quantity on hand. This ensures that you have the right stock quantities going forward.

Before you start, make sure that your excel spreadsheets are ready and in a format that is accepted by QuickBooks. You can download a sample here.

Things to look out for

  • We found that customers have the best experience when importing no more than 400 rows at one time. If there are more than 400 rows, we recommend that you split them into multiple lists and import them individually using the steps below.
  • The Product/Service Name field can only have up to 100 characters and does not allow tabs and some other special characters.
  • The Quantity as of Date field needs to be in dd/mm/yyyy format.
  • If you wish to replace products/services which are already in QuickBooks with your latest Excel sheet, check the box that says ‘overwrite all values for each product or service that you import with the identical name’. Note that this process cannot be undone.

When you are ready

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Under Tools, choose Import Data.
  3. From the list, select Products and Services.
  4. Select the Browse button.
  5. Select your Excel file, click Open then select Next to continue.
  6. Map the headers in your Excel file to the fields in QuickBooks. The left column depicts the field names that QuickBooks uses and the fields in the right column is from your spreadsheet. To reduce errors, we recommend that you update the field names your excel spreadsheet before you upload your file.  When you mapped the fields, click Next
  7. Adjust your data if necessary then select Import.

Import your products and services to QuickBooks

good morning,

We run a vehicle hire company, we use a vehicle hire program which we export to qb.

All works well except i can't seem to find a way of getting the class (registration number) of the vehichles to come across. I manually do it at the moment.

Any ideas?

Regards

Welcome to the Community space, @maxy.

I appreciate you for entering the registration number into the program manually. Currently, importing the registration number into Quickbooks isn't available.

I can see how this feature would be beneficial to you and your business. I'll take note of your suggestion, so our developers have an idea of what they need to consider in future product updates.
