Yes, that’s what I’ve been having to do. It’s a way around it but a bit of a faff. It should be made easier.
Quickbooks - yes you can download and export the monthly statements (onto tiny text) but is there no option to do a full statement list over the year seperated into each monthly totals on one page?
I have had to extract each monthly figures onto a spread sheet so that our lads at the end of the year can have 1 print out with the full figures of each tax month and total annual figure, Its very time consuming.
Personally i am looking at changing to sage as we operate with over 10+ subbies
Hello Becky87, thank you for your feedback about a yearly statement with monthly totals we do see the seriousness of having this feature on your subscriptions and will re-iterate that to the product engineers.
As I'm sure you agree 31st of Jan is fast approaching, and my subcontractors need their CIS reports ASAP....
When is this issue going to be resolved?!!!
Welcome to this conversation, @Red Sparrow.
At the moment, you can run the CIS Payment and Deduction Statement from the Reports tab on the left-hand menu. Then, customise this by the supplier. Here's how:
For future reference, read through this article: Filing CIS in QuickBooks Online. It guides youi in submitting your CIS return directly to HMRC.
I'll be here if you have more questions. Have a great day.
OK thanks you I can see that I can get the same report this way. But it requires a lot more steps and time than simply exporting as PDF each statement via the prepare a return action on the CIS tab as you can before it is filed. If you have more than a handful of contractors this will take awhile to do.
I see this is a workaround but not a solution and feel this issue should remain open until resolved correctly.
Hi Joanna,
Thanks for getting back to us on this thread, we'd be grateful if you could leave feedback for any feature requests by going to the Cog > Feedback within your account, this way it will reach our product developers who're able to review and implement such changes where possible. :)
Of course Georgia I did this back in September but haven't heard anything
Great thanks Joanna, these are considered on a demand-basis so the more feedback we can get on this the better :)
I do find this very frustrating, QB answers our question, however, I feel it isn't listening to the main problem....
- Why can't we produce a backdated, month by month report for CIS subcontractors with the click of one button, at any time we need them?
I have 10's of subcontractors - to run separate reports for each contractor, for each and every month, would cost me lots in time and money!
- Allow a function to run a printable report in A4!!! so we can read it. And for each month AFTER we have clicked the submitted CIS to HMRC?
- Could also go a step further and set up an email function to send on the reports automatically to subcontractors... People would love you for it!
Kind regards,
Marly Jones - Managing Director

In also find it a faff to have to produce general CIS report, Custom, then filter each subcontractor individually to send a CIS deduction Certificate to them. There must be a quicker and simpler way to do it.
I have found it easier to issue these before you submit to hmrc. You can email it or save to for each contractor.
This point I understand, however, it doesn't solve the issue when backdating certificates, or if you make amendments online, you then cant send out up to date certs.
From now on I will also not bother to 'submit to HMRC' (even though it doesn't through QB) any CIS at all.
Then I can edit anything in need too!
Perhaps only submit to HMRC through QB all in one go, when it's my annual accounts?...
This thread is coming up as solved. I disagree. The issue is not resolved at all there is just a way to get round it.
This needs fixing in the software. In addition think Marly's idea to email these reports out directly would be a great addition. I find it very frustrating that this doesn't seem to be being picked up by Quickbooks!
You can print them from reports and change the layout to landscape ... it is easier ... but frankly considering QB tells everyone that it's simple ... it isn't ..... you have to manually enter the email addresses in to email them and if you do not change the email address it will go to the last one you entered!!
2022 and it appears we still have the same problem. Our sub contractors want yearly statements and unfortunately its still means manually entering each contractors email. I have around 205 to do.
I really can't believe we are still having to do this.
Thanks
I agree! It should be sorted. When having to enter each sub contractors email manually, it actually leaves the previous subcontractors email address in the box when going on to next subcontractor, which is not good!
Why cant they have a feature that just emails all CIS payslips out with one click!!!! I have to save PDFs and then email to each contractor..... another expense I have to pay for, when trying to do my job.
I find it easier to send them from the reports function - once you run the complete report for the period and then click on each subcontractor and send from there (still have to put the email address in manually - but I have a spreadsheet with them on that helps) BUT you must remember to use back to go back to the report then click on the next subcontractor ... I also make sure it is on landscape when I send the report (so the subcontractor can read it) ...
Again not the best but the quickest work around I have found.
I have always sent CIS vouchers each month - but to send one at the end of the year which shows each month would be really good for some of our (less organised) contractors !!!!!!
Hello, b_p_j Thanks for your feedback on CIS payment deduction certificates and Quickbooks Online. We will pass on your comments as well regarding the monthly feature.
Hi, How do you FILTER on individual supplier in this report?
I'm here to help you today, @ausrunas.
When running the CIS Payment Deduction report, you'll want to customise it to filter individual supplier details to show. I'll walk you through how:
See the photo below for reference:
I'm also adding these useful resources that you can review about handling CIS Payment Deduction:
You already know where to find me if you have other concerns with this matter or QuickBooks in general. It's always great to be of help. Have a nice day and take care!
OR... run the CIS report from reports for the period ... then click on each contractor and it produces there CIS certificate (remember to make it landscape !) and you can either print or email from there ... you have to enter manually the contractors email address (!!!!!!!????? ) then press back in top left hand corner and you go back to the summary report ... you can then click on next contractor ...etc. This is by far the quickest way I have found to do it. Hope this helps.
Also ... you can do them for the whole year this way (ie 06/04/21-05/04/22) and produce an annual certificate for contractors ... some smaller subbies prefer this than being sent one every month....
