How to have more than one window open

Hello elainewilson,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the QuickBooks Online Community.

To open a new tab, simply right-click on the tab on the top of your browser and select 'Duplicate' or right-click on the hyperlink of the page you are trying to view and select 'Open link in new tab'.

Thanks

How to have more than one window open

Hi QB, the open link in a new tab only works for me on certain links. E.g. it comes up if you right clikc on Invoicing in the left hand menu but does not if you right click on an account total in a TB or a transaction in a report. The latter would be where it is most useful to me. This works for everything in Xero. Can it be made so that it works for everything in QBO?

Hello Buzz21, Thanks for reaching out to the Community. To confirm the link only does not open in a new tab in regard to reports? Are you using the QuickBooks Online Plus package? Thanks

Thanks Emmam6, I'm using QB Online Accountant. It doesn't work for me within reports either when drilling down to a sub report (e.g. getting a report of just sales out of the initial P+L report) or when click on an actual transaction (e.g. a sales invoice when looking at a report of sales).

Thanks for that Buzz21, we can forward your request to the product development team. At the moment you could use the tab option to open another tab as an alternative to have multiple pages open such as in the QuickBooks desktop app, more information on that here.

Ah OK so its still not available. Disappointing given the massive pressure Intuit put us under this year to transition everyone from QBD to QBO. With all the overtime i had to work to accomodate that you'd think they would be willing to get on to this sort of functionality stuff that has been posted on suggestions for a long time now. The duplicate tab thing takes a lot more effort as you have to duplicate, move to that tab, find your line and then click. We need both options. So is the Desktop app reliable now? It was abandoned before as it was awful so has development time been put into this? I assume it will only work for those of my clients on advanced or will i be able to access my plus or essentials clients too?

Hi buzz21, thanks for sharing your experience. We've made some improvements to the desktop app which we hope will make it more convenient for you to use than the browser version. This app is exclusive to QuickBooks Online Advanced subscribers and accountants with a QuickBooks Online Accountant file. If you do have any further feedback, you can share this with our team by pressing the Cog > Feedback in your account - all suggestions are appreciated.

This does not work in the Search Your Transactions window.

Furthermore, if you "duplicate" the Search Your Transactions tab, it doesn't carry over your search terms. I have the filter set with "Transaction type" and "Starting date" and "Ending date" and it only carries over the transaction type.

Makes it very difficult to search for a series of transactions that all need changed (e.g. all on the same date and the same type). I open one transaction, open its Audit History to confirm it's one of the problematic transactions, close the audit history, but there's no way to go back to the search results without losing all the filters. In the Olden Days, one would open up search, and opening a transaction would open it in a new window, then you could save and close and return to your search results. Functionality has taken a step back with Intuit pushing everyone to the web app.
