Be VERY CAREFUL if you try this as it
- does not always work
- you have to do this in very small batches and
- you are unable to adjust QTY when you perform stock takes
ALSO - as said - there is NO undo command.....which given the "poor nature of the import routine" is a huge huge risk.....
Good luck
Take advantage of the trial version of a backup restore app before doing anything risky.

Yes - 100% correct - as the "SlowBooks" back up is pretty - errrm....useless....
And Rewind is an app I use and will say it is brilliant.....BUT is limited in what it can restore....but is good
BUT as usual - more monthly spend on QB - money money money !!!
Hi JohnC
Will I lose any historical data about the product? such as who purchased what and when? what did we pay for these last year etc?
will I lose the recommended supplier information etc that you cannot import and have to enter manually?
As if we do lose this information then that's not really a tenable solution.
I really do not understand why QuickBooks don't have this functionality built in already, most open source shopping cart systems have it, yet a paid for supposedly professional product simply doesn't support it? madness.
Hi Richard We understand your concerns however, if done correctly, the import won't affect any other data other than the prices that you've updated. You could always test this by creating a test product/service, exporting the list and deleting everything but the test product, edit the price info and then re-import it.
As @RichardH has asked - surely the simple answer you should have given is
100% that will work as we as 100% convinced our update solution is 100% perfect !
All you have done is pass the risk and burden of error onto @RichardH . I am sure that he accepts if the price he has entered is incorrect that is his fault.....but everything else.....that he has no control over.....is yoru issue not his
Hi ShopAdmin The update will work if done correctly. We added the option to test this first to ensure the user is updating the product following the correct procedure and if they didn't it would therefore only affect the test product/service.
Hi JohnC
Can you provide a step-by-step guide on how to do this, then there is no doubt whatsoever that it will work as expected?
You have this available for many other tasks, surely this warrants this as its pretty important to many users?
You could cover many of the questions that people will ask
Then there is zero concern and zero worry for the end user - I can then get on with my day job and not worry about what options I should be using in my accounts software.
Thanks.
Also -
Sorry - the solution you propose is just not fit-for-purpose
I'll point you out to the right direction for the support, @RichardH.
First off, I appreciate the amount of effort you've exerted so far. I recommend contacting your 3rd party app support. This way, they can provide you with a step-by-step process.
As the previous agent suggested, performing this in the test file won't affect any of the data that you currently have. The purpose of this is to verify and understand the process.

???????????? have you actually read this discussion in full - YOU, QUICKBOOKS are the SERVICE PROVIDER
No 3rd Party apps are involved
We are showing you, QUICKBOOKS, how poor YOUR system is and you SHOULD NOT ADVERTISE IT AS able to manage stock due to the many critical limitations/restrictions.
If you have nothing constructive to add - please do not feel the need to post
You cannot even BATCH upload stock Bills as you cannot post BILLS against stock lines......you can only do this manually
Honestly - the list goes on and on and on.....
YOU DO NOT HAVE A WORKING STOCK SYSTEM
Exactly what I was going to say @Kurt_M
I am paying entirely too much to QBs to not have this (along with several other cases pending supervisors response) handled. I do not want to download outside apps.
Instead of QB's paying for excessive advertising (during NFL playoff games is one ex), maybe use some of the cash to invest in engineering and fixing these issues? We need answers!
As others have said, I categorically do not want to use third party apps, neither am I doing so!!!
QuickBooks do not have a viable stock control solution in my opinion, had we known this we would have not signed up to Quick Books.
"I recommend contacting your 3rd party app support. This way, they can provide you with a step-by-step process."
As its your software, then please do this!
It loos like this was solved:
