Hi gail34, there is currently no way to copy the information from customer to supplier or vice versa, each would need to be created as new, we apologise for any inconvenience caused and welcome you to leave feedback on this by selecting the Gear > Feedback within your account. :folded_hands:

Hello Gail34,

Welcome to the Community page,

So you cant have the same name for a supplier and a customer in Quickbooks. You would have to create a separate profile for a customer and a supplier, and add something to one of the profile names for you to then be able to save it.

I know you have to change the name by adding a full stop etc if they have the same name, but my point was we use the same venue as both a supplier and a customer so can I duplicate the supplier info (and add a full stop to name) without having to type the same information in twice. It's exactly the same information on the supplier and customer account, It's annoying having to type it all in twice.

Hi Gail34, so you can have the exact same details entered in on both the supplier information and the customer, information. However the display name in one of them has to be a bit different.

You have just repeated what you said earlier and not answered my question. I really don't know how else to re phrase it.

If i set up a supplier is there a button that I can press that will copy the information and let me save it as a customer with a slightly amended name so they aren't the same - I am well aware they can't be exactly the same name as I have to enter so many of them as both a supplier and customer. I find quick books utterly frustrating.

agreed ,quickbooks is an exercise in frustration.  And the 'experts' here don't know anything about the product, and usually make everything worse and waste more of your time.

I know this is a bit late in the day, but might potentially help somebody else with the same query. I haven't tested it, but how about exporting your suppliers to Excel.

You could then manipulate the data accordingly, and then import as customers from Excel.

Looking at the Import/Export screens, it does look as though it would be possible.
