25/26 payroll

When we will be able to start running 25/26 payrolls? There's a few test runs I'd like to progress where tax codes have changed etc

It is still saying "The tax year 2025-26 is not yet available for running payroll. Please check back towards the end of March."

Well, it is the 'end of March'!

25/26 payroll

You're unable to start running payroll and have received an error message because the first day of the new tax year for 2025/26 begins on April 6, 2025, @richard96. I'll provide further details below to enhance your understanding of the topic.

As the new tax year approaches, it is essential to be prepared for the start date, as it facilitates effective financial planning and budgeting. A comprehensive understanding of the year-end processes will equip you with the knowledge needed to seamlessly transition into the new tax year with confidence and ease.

Meanwhile, QuickBooks provides automated updates for payroll tax codes. However, it's crucial to review HMRC's guidelines or access your HMRC account for the latest updates that may impact your payroll calculations. Afterward, you'll need to manually update employee tax codes or information in the system to ensure accuracy. Changes in tax codes come into effect at the start of the new tax year.

For an in-depth understanding of the critical deadlines associated with payroll, we invite you to explore our comprehensive resource: A year-end guide for QuickBooks Online Core Payroll.

Once the new tax year begins, you will have the capability to initiate and run payrolls smoothly.

We're excited to begin the new tax year just like you are. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to share them with us. We're here to provide you with ongoing support.

Thanks - would be good if the error message said '6 April' then, rather than 'end of March'!
