Core Payroll

Is anyone else having trouble with the core payroll that QB has replaced standard payroll with?

The journal mapping insists on having  a payment account which results in the employee payment being recorded twice because the payment comes through on the bank feed in the normal way.

Standard payroll was far better and worked well, no idea why they would change it.

Core Payroll

I hear your voice with the difference in the journal mapping between QuickBooks Online's (QBO) Standard to Core Payroll is different, @Dinger.

In QBO's Core Payroll, we'll have to choose a payment account and match employee payments to the downloaded bank transaction to prevent recording them twice. I'd be glad to assist you in accomplishing this.

After choosing the payment account in your account's journal mapping, you can follow these steps for the matching process:

  1. Go to the Bank transactions page in your QBO account.
  2. Find the payroll transaction.
  3. Click on the Match radio button.
  4. Place a checkmark for the payroll cheques to the corresponding downloaded bank transaction.
  5. Hit Match.
