I just ran first Payroll in QBO and it seems to have put director's salary in with other wages, even though there are separate journals for each employee (?!)
How do I set a separate account for director's salary?
I have steps so the director's salary will separate into your wages, @ellismp. And happy to outline the detailed steps with you.
I'll help you review your QuickBooks Online payroll journal posting. Check which accounts are linked to your payroll transactions by default. You can check this by going to the Payroll Settings.
Here's how:
Just in case, I'll add this article for future reference: QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll Hub.
I will support you if you require further assistance with payroll in QuickBooks. I am happy to assist you in any way possible. Keep safe.
My screen doesn't look anything like that - I don't have Payroll Settings under the gear icon - I have Accounts and Settings.
When I click that I can see Payroll on the left but if I select that there is no option for Chart of Accounts, nor Default Accounts.
There is a section for Journal Mappings but that doesn't include anything re Directors vs Staff wages.
Please advise?
Thanks
Hello Ellismp,
If its standard payroll your using and you want the journal/net payments posting to your bank account then you will have to go to the mapping section within the payroll settings and select the bank account.
Hello Ellismp, there is no way for standard payroll to do that. On standard, you would need to edit the journal after its created to reduce the director amount from the standard salary line and add a separate line for this with the directors account that you've created.
