For journals that I have created and set-up as recurring get named by continuing the previous journals name. This also happens whenever I create a new journal or when payroll journals are created.
Does anyone know how to stop this ?
Thanks
I appreciate you for letting us know here in the Community, Steve. Let me help you in getting things resolved with your recurring journals.
In QuickBooks Online, recurring journals help you record transactions that occur every accounting period. If you're referring to the template name generated whenever you add or create payroll journals, you can edit and change its associated name in every template. To help you stop and make its changes, you can refer to the steps below.
Here's how:
Furthermore, if you'll need to update or correct an existing journal, you can reverse or delete a journal entry. Then, if you want to print single or multiple entries, you can print a journal entry report to help you review your recorded transactions.

Hi thanks for your reply.
I am using the recurring journals but don't understand why the names of future recurring journals change, I would expect them all to stay the same.
Why if I create a new (non-recurring) journal does QB populate the name based on the previous Journal posted ?, if I could switch off this function then it should resolve the recurring journal issue.
Hi Steve,
Let me take your follow-up question and get you to a different team who can check this further.
The name on your journal should not change when when it recurs, and the same thing goes to non-recurring journal entries. Therefore, I'm going to let you contact our QBO Support team about this, so they can check this further using more tools. You can reach them in an hour.
Feel free to go back to this thread if you have other questions in mind.
