How do I trigger an EPS? Last month I submitted an EPS to HMRC for CIS suffered but this month there is no option to file one even though there has been CIS suffered

Thanks for coming back, TraAda123.

I've checked here on our end and there's no reported case about this one. The option to amend the P32 report is unavailable. The Employment Payment Record (P32) report shows the amount that is due to HMRC for a given tax month. We can review the Employment Payment Record report, by following the steps below:

  1. Go to view your reports in QuickBooks.
  2. Under Employment Payment Record, tap Run.
  3. Select the current year.
  4. The report opens in a PDF viewer, showing some of the following:
  • Tax period and tax period dates
  • Your net Income Tax (this is the sum of Income-tax (PAYE) and student loan deductions made from your employees).
  • Your gross and net NICs (the sum of your NICs from employee and employer contributions).
  • Total deductions from NICs, which include any recoveries for SMP or SPP paid to employees. Also, if you are entitled to Small Employers' Relief, the additional 3% NIC compensation.
  • Employment Allowance, if you are entitled to claim this.
  • Amount Due to HMRC for the relevant tax month.

For the EPS not showing as outstanding as the CIS deductions suffered in May, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll help you with this one. Here's how to contact our support team:

  1. Sign in to your QucikBooks Online (QBO). Then click Help (?).
  2. Click Talk to a human.
  3. Choose Talk to a human.
  4. Press See examples.
  5. Enter your concern.
  6. Tap Contact us and choose a way to connect with us by starting a chat with a support expert or getting a callback from the next available expert.

I've got an article to help you learn more about EPS: Submit EPS to HMRC in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.

Feel free to go back to this post after performing the steps or contact our support agent as I want to make sure this is resolved for you. Have a great day ahead.

I'll help you with how to trigger EPS for CIS Suffered, TraAda123.

An EPS will show after you run your payroll. There are also several factors why it won't appear. Here's a list below:

  • No Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) or Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) has been paid.
  • There are outstanding payrolls for the tax month. Though the EPS will be listed, it can't be submitted until you've completed them.

To learn more about EPS, please check out this article: Submit EPS to HMRC in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.

I've also added a link about how you can see all your previous EPS submission from the Payroll Tax Center: View submitted FPS and EPS filings in QBO Standard Payroll.

You can always post again here if you have any other tax questions. I'll be glad to help you more.

Thank you for your reply.  I've had another look and the EPS is not showing as outstanding as the CIS deductions suffered in May aren't filtering through to the Employment Payment Record (P32) for some reason.  I know there was an issue with CIS invoices yesterday so is this possibly linked?  Can I manually amend the P32 report somehow in order for it to show the CIS suffered as it is currently showing as zero but that's not right?
