I am creating a new budget and I'd like to show the salary for each person, is there a way to add subdividers for each category (e.g admin: employee 1, employees 2...)?

I already use a subdivided budget, what I'm looking to do is add subcategories to specific categories - e.g. admin salaries (employee 1 salary/taxes, employee 2, salary/taxes)

Hi there, Elizabeth. I'll share details about what areas can be modified when creating a budget inside QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before anything else, know that the budget feature only provides an overview to help you compare your actual income and expenses with your budget. When setting it to subdivided, the choices available are Location, Class, and Customer. That said, the option to modify it to show the salary for each person is unavailable.

We recommend sending a feature request to our Product Development Team so they can evaluate your suggestion and consider it for future program updates. We'll write down the steps to get you going:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the top right corner, click the Gear icon.
  3. Select Feedback and then enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Once ready, click Next to submit feedback.

Moreover, we recommend checking this article to help you manage a budget inside QBO: Create or import budgets in QuickBooks Online.

Please don't hesitate to visit us or comment below if you have further questions about the budget feature inside QuickBooks or need a helping hand with other questions related to the program. Keep safe.
