Yes, you are right, info. The abbreviation of the country on your end is for United States format. Allow me to assist you with troubleshooting steps to resolve this.
When setting up your address using a United Kingdom QuickBooks Online account, the Country selection dropdown will display the full name. Since you're seeing the abbreviations instead of the complete name of the country, I recommend re-entering the address again.
If the issue persists, you can open your account in an incognito mode to see if this has something to do with your browser.
Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used web browsers:
After signing in, you can set up your address again. If this resolves the problem, return to your default browser and clear the cache to refresh the page. Then, start with a clean slate. Alternatively, you can also use other supported browsers.
You may ask further about your address concerns that come to your mind by replying to my post. Rest assured that I'll be here to provide answers.
I have recently changed from desktop to on-line and have the same issue irrespective of browser, cleared etc.
Why does quickbooks entry field list it as State and then list the UK counties in the drop down box. Seems to be a hash of US and UK configurations ? Looks really strange on estimates and invoices.
Hello there, Mike.
Thanks for bringing up this detail. Your observation about the "State" dropdown showing in the company Address field in QuickBooks Online (QBO) UK is spot on.
For this, I recommend sharing your thoughts directly with our product development team so they can review your suggestion for changing the address labels to align with UK terminologies. Your input is valuable in helping improve the accuracy and regional settings within QBO.
To do this, here's how:

I have this issue too. The devs need to either use the full UK county as it appears in the dropdown, or standard UK abbreviations. Trying to truncate the county into an American 2-letter abbreviation is plain wrong.
This problem has come up several times before and unfortunately Quickbooks Support just don't seem to get it. After much experimentation I have found the solution. The obvious place to enter your own address is Account & Settings > Company > Address. However, if the address is entered here, it is mandatory to choose a county from the dropdown list and that results in the use of a 2 letter abbreviation which is meaningless to UK users.
Instead of using Account & Settings, open a sales invoice to view/edit, is there an Edit Company link below your business's details? If not, click Manage to open the side panel, select Design and select the Modern template - that should change the edit view for the invoice and enable the Edit Company link. Click Edit Company and enter your Company address and Customer-facing address. Here you can enter the county or leave it blank, click Save. If you changed the template to Modern you can now change it back to your preferred choice. You can leave the invoice without saving, but your new address details will have been saved and will be printed on future documents without the 2 letter county abbreviation.
