CIS suffered sub

Hi MR Hands Ltd Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Community. To clarify, you are a limited company, you have subscribed to the Core payroll system, you don't have any employees however you operate under the CIS system and would like to submit the CIS suffered amount to HMRC?

CIS suffered sub

Hi John,

I have no employee, but I had a subcontractor I have paid. In the same period I suffered CIS on the payment I received from my contractor. So my question is how to submit EPS to HMRC so they can see the amount of CIS suffered and offset it against the amount of tax I should pay to them? For the reference: I am using QB online Payroll Core.

Thank you,

Roman

CIS suffered sub

Thank you for the additional details you've shared, @MR Hands Ltd. I'm here to help you submit your CIS to HMRC in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

QBO can automatically calculate your CIS deductions, track the amounts withheld or suffered, generate the necessary reports for HMRC, and submit these reports directly.

To begin, let's first turn on CIS in your QBO. Please note that this action is irreversible:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Account and settings.
  2. In the Advanced tab, click the Pencil icon for Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
  3. Toggle the Enable CIS button and fill in the necessary information.
  4. Once done, click Save and Done.CIS.jpg

Please refer to this article for the detailed steps: Turn on CIS in QuickBooks Online.

Let's now record the CIS deduction suffered:

  1. Go to the gear icon and select Account and settings
  2. Choose the Payroll tab and scroll down to the bottom of the screen
  3. Click the Pencil icon for CIS suffered.
  4. Enter the total CIS Suffered amount for that period including the date.
  5. Select Save Record.CISDeduction.jpg

Please refer to this article for the detailed steps: Record CIS deductions suffered in QuickBooks Online Core Payroll.

After recording, you can send it to HMRC by going to Taxes in the left menu and choosing CIS. Then, click View return under the ACTION column.

Additionally, you can run payroll reports to get a comprehensive overview of your business finances.

Let us know if you have other concerns about CIS and HMRC in QBO. We're here to help you in any way we can.
