Hello there, babruinekool. I'm glad to have you in the Community.
On the contractor side, we can create a separate liability account to withhold for child support. Though the best thing that I can suggest here is to consult your accountant for further assistance. They are the ones who can guide us through inputting this into QuickBooks in the right process.

ok, thank you. So then on the vendor check, line one woutd be the amount earned & full amount paid. Line two would then be the liability & garnishment...so would that be a negative amount shown? Thank you!
Good day, babruinekool.
When you write a cheque to pay the garnishment, you list the Child Support Liability account. With regard to the amount earned, I'd recommend reaching out to your accountant regarding the process. This is to make sure that your financial reports are accurate at the end of the year.
