How should I deal with a backdated salary increase in Advanced Payroll? (QB Chat told me I needed to undo and re-run the Pay Runs for the months of backdating.)

This increase applies to just one of our employees. I think I should just be able to make an adjustment in the current month.

Yes, you need to undo the most recent payroll checks for the month so you can enter the backdated salary increase within the salary settings on that employee michael-byrne.

Step 1: Unlock a pay run

  1. Click on the required pay run in the Pay Runs screen.
  2. Click on Pay Run Actions, then choose Unlock.
  3. In the dialogue that drops down, enter the reason for unlocking the data and click OK.
  4. Once you unlock the pay run, you can always finalise it again if you need to.

Step 2: Delete a pay run

  1. Select the required unlocked or unfinalised pay period.
  2. Select the Delete Pay Run button on the far right-hand side.
  3. In the dialogue that drops down, confirm by clicking the delete button.

Once the pay run is deleted, it cannot be undone and the related data will not be able to be retrieved. If you run multiple periods and need to make changes in a previous period, you can unlock the period you need to make the necessary changes and go back to the current period.

You don't need to run the payrolls in sequence. You can go back to the current period and your figures will be updated and most importantly, your FPS to HMRC will be updated too.

After that, once you have updated the employees settings you can re-create the pay run
