New employee is not showing as payee in bank module

I have set up a new employee in QB payroll but when I come to post her pay from the bank account she does not appear on the list as a payee, as I would expect. Any ideas?

Hi john-prendergast, thanks for posting on the Community.

The system should automatically create these as employees for you to select in the payee field.

Are you using the standard or the advanced version of QuickBooks Online Payroll, and have you already ran one payroll with the employee included?

Advanced. Yes, we have run a payroll with new employee included. In fact there are two new employees and neither appears on the payee list.

Thanks for the additional information about your concern, John. We're here to provide some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue and continue posting employee's pay in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We know how important it is to record the employee pay in our program without issue. Let's work together with some troubleshooting steps to get your employees to show in the payee lists in your QBO account.

As my colleague stated in this thread, the system should automatically create these as employees for you to select in the payee field. However, it doesn't show on your end. What you encountered may be due to a browser cache-related issue that causes the employees not to generate on the Payee field. Your browser saves files to load websites faster on your next visit. But over time, it'll get outdated, which can cause errors and performance issues using the program. To fix this, we can perform the basic browser troubleshooting steps.

Here's how:

  1. Restart your browser.
  2. Log in to your account in an incognito or private browser and see if you can see them in the Payee field. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N

Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P

Safari: press Command Shift N

If it works on the private browser, go back to the regular browser and clear your browser's cache. Then, see if it works. Otherwise, you can use another supported browser.

If the issue persists, we recommend contacting our Technical Support team to investigate further since they have the necessary tools to check your account set up with you via a screen-sharing session.
