I'm here to ensure you'll be able to send your FPS to HMRC without setting up a pension.
To begin with, since you're prompted to set up a company pension scheme, I suggest performing some basic troubleshooting to determine if this is a browser-related issue.
Sometimes, QuickBooks may encounter errors due to accumulated cache. With this, we can try logging in to your QBO account using a private browser, as it ignores websites from using cookies and doesn’t record any history and data:
If this works, I recommend clearing the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result, I recommend switching to a different supported browser.
Once done, you can check out these articles for guidance on submitting your FPS to HMRC:
Additionally, if you want to view your submitted FPS or EPS, please refer to this article: View submitted FPS and EPS filings in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.
Let me know if you need further assistance submitting your FPS or have any QuickBooks-related concerns. Keep safe.
Hi
I am receiving this same error... this is the first month using core (I have been automatically switched over to this system) Trying to run payroll today and I cannot do so as the sole director is not enrolled into a pension scheme... We do not have a pension scheme in place as nobody had to be auto enrolled. I understand as a sole director you don't have to be auto enrolled but as soon as I try to preview payroll I get an error saying 'Set up a workplace pension scheme from payroll settings before you run payroll. These employees are ready to join workplace pension: XXXNAME OF DIRECTOR XXX'
Please can someone advise on this asap as it is stopping me being able to run payroll today which is the due date for FPS submission...
Thanks
Hi SueAsh, in order to bypass pension in QuickBooks Online Core Payroll, you would need to select the option Not assessed.
