Let me welcome you to the QuickBooks family, jplewis60.
Allow me to share some information about changing the tax code and its impact to your payroll.
In QuickBooks Online, you’ll have to manually update the tax code data on the employee’s information. This information is the basis of how much tax should be deducted from your worker’s salary.
For more insight about Tax codes and what the letters mean, please visit this site: https://www.gov.uk/tax-codes.
This should point you in the right direction.
If there’s anything else I can help you with, post a comment below. I’ll get back to assist you further. Have a good one.
Hello,
I have a Welsh employee with a prefix "C" in the tax code for 2019/2020 and have tried to input it into QB Desktop but it will not accept it. Can anyone help please?
Thank you
S
Hi Clearwell1
The prefix C only relates to the new tax year 2019/20. If you are using an older version of QuickBooks you will have to upgrade to the 2019 version, if you are using the latest version as well as entering prefix C before the tax code you will also have to change the effective date to 6/4/19.
Thank you for letting me know. How do we upgrade to QB 2019? Is there a link that we can follow.
Thank you,
Susie
