I can ensure to provide you with the new income tax rates updates, @lalestons

QuickBooks tax rates will automatically be updated if there are any changes. Otherwise, it doesn't. To receive notification, we need to enter your HMRC reference.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Payroll tab.
  3. Select the pencil icon next to the HMRC reference.
  4. Enter your HMRC reference and Accounts Office reference.
  5. Select Save and Done.

Additionally, you might want to check this article to keep your transactions on top and prepare your assessment for an Income Tax return in QuickBooks Online: Self-Assessment for Income Tax Checklist for QuickBooks Online.

I'm always here if you require additional assistance managing your taxes. Just reply in the comments, and I'll surely respond to it. Have a nice day!

Sorry for the confusion but what I was referring to was VAT rates. Also all of our categories have disappeared on receipt snap when we are processing invoices.

Thanks for getting back to us, @lalestons.

Let me provide some ways to help you get through it.

Firstly, let's check the VAT rates to see if it's a browser-related issue. You can try logging in to your QBO account using a private browser, which ignores websites from using cookies and doesn't record any history or data. You can access incognito mode using the following shortcut keys:

  • Safari: Control + Option + P
  • Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox or Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P

If you can now have a seamless process with the VAT rates, it means you have to clear the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result, I recommend switching to a different supported browser.

On the other hand, we can also perform basic troubleshooting on your account to determine where the problem lies with the snap receipts. Here's how to do it on different mobile operating systems:

Android:

  1. Go to Menu ☰ then tap More Options ⋮.
  2. Select Settings, then Refresh Data.
  3. Tap Yes.

iOS:

  1. Go to the Menu ☰ icon, then select Help & Feedback.
  2. Tap Refresh Data.
  3. Select Refresh.

Once done, you can restart your device and reopen your QBO mobile app to double-check. If the issue persists, I recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling the app.

Additionally, I'm adding a resource you can browse through in case you need assistance making sure that no VAT is missed or duplicated when reporting to His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC): VAT exceptions and reports in QuickBooks Online.

If there's anything else you need help with regarding VAT rates and snap receipts, please let me know by leaving a comment below. I'm just a few clicks away to help you again. Keep safe!
