What is QBO doing to address the payroll "upgrade" debacle? I have to issue a P60 next month and the data is still split - when will the data be merged?

As we have all paid for payroll services that includes the preparation of P32s etc. I am sure this is being corrected, right?

Hi Canadian Susan, thanks for posting on the Community today

We won't be merging data between QuickBooks Standard Payroll and QuickBooks Core Payroll as payroll data can't be migrated.

Instead, any historic data ran on Standard Payroll can be accessed through the downloaded zip file, which includes P32 documents as well as P11, P45, P60, and Paylips (depending on the employee).

We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by the change. If you have any further queries, please post these below.

The P32 archived documents are only for 3 months, P32's are payment records for a full year. They're also broken down into levels, if the first level has only been partially reached in the first three months then calculating the P32's manually will be painstaking and arduous - which is why we used QBO payroll in the first place! We signed on for this service, we pay for this service, if you're not delivering on what you promised, it feels like a breach of contract.

I appreciate you writing your concerns here, Susan. Allow me to share some pointers regarding the P32 in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

If you've been using QuickBooks Standard Payroll for some time, any data, forms, or reports from previous years, aside from the current year, will also be migrated and accessible in a secure section within Core Payroll.

As mentioned by my colleague above, the data will be moved during the transition but they can't be directly merge.

To help alleviate you current situation, I recommend reaching the QuickBooks Online Payroll support team. They can provide you additional guidance to your current situation and offer help to make your P60 filing easier.

Here's how:

  1. Log into your QuickBooks account.
  2. Click the Help option in the upper-right corner.
  3. Tap the Contact Us button.
  4. Choose a topic from the boxes or tap the Ask about something else box.
  5. Next, state your concern in the box. Example: Payroll concerns. Then, press the Continue button.
  6. After that, select between the two options: Have us call you or Schedule an Appointment.

Moreover, we can also refer to our service agreement or contract with QuickBooks Online Payroll to understand the specific terms regarding access to payroll records and data retention. This can help clarify what level of service you are entitled to and how QBO plans to address any shortcomings.

Here's an article that will provide regular updates within QuickBooks to ensure a seamless transition, with all your historical data available for download: Introducing QuickBooks Core Payroll: upgrading your Standard Payroll experience.

Keep in touch if you need more help pulling up data or forms in QuickBooks Online Payroll. I'm always around if you need any help. Have a good day.
