I recently signed up to Quickbooks Self-employed, and I am trying to figure out how I can invoice for different currencies. My account is set to GBP, but I have clients who pay in EUR as they are based abroad. At the moment, invoices can only be set up in GBP
I was told in the chat that this is not a feature that is included? Is this true? Can I not change the currency on invoices at all? The suggestion from the agent to convert the amount to GBP and put that on the invoice is not appropriate, as exchange rates fluctuate and the client expects to pay a set amount in EUR, not GBP.
This seems like such a basic feature to me and I'm surprised and disappointed that this isn't included.
QBSE and QBO Simple Start don't offer the multicurrency feature.
Switch to QBO Essentials or Plus, or you may need a workaround to accept payments in multicurrency.
The problem is not accepting payments in different currencies. I have a EUR bank account I can use for that.
I simply need to be able to change the £ symbol to € on the invoice...
I don't feel like switching to a more expensive version of Quickbooks when I'm only a sole trader with a few clients, and not VAT registered.
There is no QBSE product with EUR as the home currency. You may consider to use QBO Simple Start for Europe version as another option.
Hi Clara, multicurrency is only available on our QB Online plans (Essentials and Plus) - if you're needing this feature we would recommend upgrading, as we also support income tax on QBO.
Hi GeorgiaC, how would I be able to upgrade? And would that mean losing all my current account details? I added all my transactions for the previous tax year manually when I signed up recently, and I'd prefer to not have to do that again. Thanks.
Actually, nevermind. I just checked the pricing and I would basically be going from £8 per month to £22, which is way too much for me...
The data is non-transferrable between these two products and so would need to be set-up as new; we hope you find a software that is more suitable to your business needs, thanks for your custom and interest in QuickBooks :)
