Quickbooks is set up for VAT MTD Now what?

Hi there community and Happy New Year!

I've just setup Qbooks for MTD and it has all seemed to have connected correctly to my Government gateway. I was due to submit a VAT return this week with my new company which hasn't charged any VAT yet so it would be zero for now.

Will QBooks let me know when I have to submit and deal with this current return? or do I now have to get in touch with HMRC to let them know I have setup QBooks for MTD or will they automatically know this already? I'm worried I'll get fined as I've just made the crossover. Basically do I need to email HMRC? Or am I going to be ok? First year doing all this and I'm a little naïve.

Kind regards,

Simon

Hello Taffy Coops, Thanks for posting on the Community page, Happy new year to you as well, So HMRC now sign up people for MTD without them having to sign up as long as you have your gateway ID and password and receive the code off HMRC once the auth QB to file to them you just need to add the transactions put the required vat code on and make sure the date on the taxes page is correct then you just click prepare return and file to HMRC. You need to check what date HMRC are expecting and that you have no transactions in the account with vat on prior to the date on the taxes screen.
