Good day to you, @Jacqui76.

I'm here to clear things up about VAT in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

Currently, QBSE doesn't support VAT tracking. The system only tracks Self-Assessment income alone. This is meant for individuals who have basic needs.

As a way around, you'll want to switch to our QuickBooks Online (QBO) products which can help you in handling your taxes.

Here's how:

  1. Go to https://quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/pricing/.
  2. Choose your desired plan.
  3. Click Buy now.

Once you've subscribed to QBO, simply go to the Taxes menu and click VAT or the Income Tax tab to start recording your returns.

For more details about the VAT and the Income Tax in QBO, please feel free to check these articles for reference:

I'm willing to give out more information if you have any other questions about taxes. You can tag me in your reply and I'll get back to you the soonest. Keep safe!
