Submit VAT with Bridging Software

Hi,

I am trying to submit our latest VAT return using the bridging software via an excel spreadsheet.

I have done this several times this year already with no issue.

But today - after browsing for the .xls file - the next page just gives me a sort of 'spinning circle' rather than the usual page which would ask you to indicate which cell is 'Box 1' etc

Anyone else had this issue and any thoughts on how to resolve it ?

Thanks

Submit VAT with Bridging Software

Hi AlcaTek, thanks for joining the Community

We don't have any reported issues with the MTD Bridging Tool.

To check for any browser issues that may be causing this, please try logging into QuickBooks through a different web browser or incognito window to upload the file.

Please also make sure your books are open. If they're closed, you won't be able to make changes or submit a return. To check this:

1. Select the Settings wheel and Account and settings.
2. Select the Advanced tab.
3. Select Edit ✎ in the Accounting section.
4. Switch off Close the books.
5. Select Save.

Submit VAT with Bridging Software

Hi Agricinputter, thanks for joining this thread. Please check over our common issues listed below to fix:

1. Make sure there are no negative figures in box 8 and 9
HMRC will reject VAT return submissions that have negative values and amounts in Box 8 and 9. Make sure there are no negative values in those boxes.

2. Turn off FRS (Flat Rate Scheme)
You have to turn FRS off before you can upload the Excel or CSV file and submit to HMRC. To do this:

- Go to Taxes > VAT > Edit VAT, and then Edit settings.
- Under the Other tax options section, untick the FRS box.
- Select Save. Remember to turn this back on after you submit your VAT return.

3. Check if you're using the correct VAT codes on the CSV file
Be sure to use the right VAT codes for your transactions. Here's a full list of all the VAT codes and rates available in QuickBooks Online.

If you're still unable to submit after checking these steps, please try by signing into QuickBooks through a different web browser.
