We have just started a second company and so subscribed to a second QB plus to manage it. Frustratingly the new company Qbs has no recreipt snap or ability to use mtd?

Receipt Snap is missing in the QB app for the new company however reappears when i switch to the old one. That suggests that it hasnt been included in the new subscription, even though it states that it should be. Please help, we need the ability to track our expenses and upload receipts?

Secondly, there is also no option to connect with HMRC for our VAT returns. The Making Tax Digital has disapeared?

I can see how this option would be helpful for you and your business. Let's make sure to fix the receipt snap feature and connect to HMRC, Sara. The receipt snap feature lets you categorise and at the same time track uploaded expense receipts and bills in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We can refresh your data so you'll see the latest available information in the QBO app. To do that, follow the steps below:For iOS:

  1. Go to Menu ☰ and tap Help & Feedback.
  2. Locate Refresh Data.
  3. Note: A message appears “Caution. If there was a problem getting your latest QuickBooks Online data, you can refresh it now. It may take a few minutes.”
  4. Hit Refresh to confirm.

For Android:

  1. Go to Menu ☰ then tap More Options ⋮.
  2. Go to Settings then Refresh Data.
  3. Tap YES to confirm.

On the other hand, it's possible that you're not authorised to submit VAT with HMRC. Ensure to authorise QBO to interact with HMRC. Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks, go to Taxes.
  2. Select Set up MTD.
  3. Then Authorise now.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. In the window that opens, sign in with your MTD Government Gateway user ID and password. This will be in the confirmation email you receive from HMRC.
  6. Press Continue.
  7. Locate Give permission.
  8. If you're connected, Continue and then Go to Taxes.

Once done, you'll see a badge on your tax dashboard to indicate that MTD for VAT is already enabled.

You can also go through this article in case you need to reauthorise again the MTD connection: Set Up MTD For VAT In QuickBooks Online And Connect To HMRC

However, if you're an accountant or a bookkeeper, there won't be an HMRC option in the accounts and settings as it is handled by Agent Services Account. Check out this guide to help you set up the option: Accountant's Guide To Setting Up For MTD For Vat In QuickBooks Online

But if you've already performed all the steps above and yet you're still not seeing the receipt snap and are still unable to connect to HMRC, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can take a look at why this is happening. They also have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment.

Additionally, check out these articles so you'll know what's included in each box on the VAT return and what report shows the summary information for each box:
