Can i import previous statements direct from my bank if i have already put a date range in there?

Hey there, sandra-randall20.

Importing previous statements with the correct date range is quick and easy. Allow me to show you how.

You can manually bring in the previous statements with the correct date range into QuickBooks Online and exclude the duplicate transactions.

Step 1: Pick a date range:

  1. In QuickBooks, go to Accounting, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the bank or card account you want to upload more transactions into. Then select Account history.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the list.
  4. Write down the date of the oldest transaction. In many cases, the oldest transaction is the opening balance.

Step 2: Download transactions from your bank:

  1. Sign into your bank or card’s website.
  2. Follow your bank’s instructions for how to download transactions to your computer. Some banks call this WebConnect. Every financial institution has different steps.
  3. Make sure the date range for the download is at least one day before your oldest transaction.
  4. Download your transactions. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it, like your desktop.
  5. Any duplicates you may see can be excluded as shown below.

    1. Select Banking.
    2. On the Banking page, select the For Review tab.
    3. Select the check-boxes of the transactions to exclude.
    4. From the Batch actions drop-down, choose Exclude Selected.

You can also, if the option to select a previous date range is not available, (some banks only allow a download so far back) manually download the transactions in the dates you would like from the bank's website, save to your pc as a CSV and then upload them into Quickbooks. More details on that can be found in this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

That's it! I'll be around to help if you need additional assistance with importing your transactions into QuickBooks. Have a great rest of your day.
