Hello there, @tcclimited. Let me provide details on how you can transfer your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company data into QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Before you can proceed with the migration process, you'll have to update your QBDT company file to the supported version so you can move it seamlessly to QBO. Since your backup is still for the QBDT 2010 version, I suggest reaching out to our QBDT support team to assist you with the process. You can go through this link to contact them: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-uk/contact
Once done, you can proceed to move your data using Movemybooks, a self-service data conversion tool that automatically converts and transfers your desktop data directly to QBO. For the detailed steps of the migration process, please refer to this article: Moving from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, you may notice differences in how your books appear when you switch to QBO. But no worries, here's an article to help you understand how your data is moved: Find out how your books will move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
Please comment on this thread if you have more questions or concerns about transferring your company file data. We'll always be around to assist you. Stay safe!
Where is your company located?
If you are located in UK, you should contact MMB to convert your data. If you need to convert data with specific requirements (e.g multi currency, attachments), you can purchase another 3rd party conversion service.
