How do I resolve error 353? Tried to reconnect my bank and fails everytime, very frustrating, can anyone help?

Hello there, humblc1992.

I understand the impact of this challenge on your business operations due to the error message you've encountered. Rest assured, I'm here to assist you and work towards resolving these challenges.

Could you please let me know which bank you are trying to reconnect to Online banking? I want to check if others are experiencing the same issue.

You can follow these steps to fix banking connection error 353.

  1. Disconnect the account in QuickBooks Online by clicking the pencil icon.
  2. Then, click Edit account info.
  3. From the Account window, check the box next to Disconnect this account on save.
  4. Once done, click Save and close.
  5. After that, let's reconnect the account by clicking the Link Account button in the Banking window.
  6. Select the account you need to connect.
  7. Complete the account access process.
  8. Then, select the active account to add and assign an account in QBO.

If you can't see the account in the Account Connection window, I'd suggest verifying with your bank that the account is active and available to connect to QBO. For additional details, refer to this article: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.

Once your bank account is connected and downloads transactions, you can review and categorise your transactions so they are accounted for properly.

Keep me posted if you have any other banking concerns. I'm always here to help.

Hello, OAElectrics. Let's check if this is due to your browser issue with the message you received about something unexpected that happened.

If you are experiencing issues with connecting via Santander and receive a message about "Something unexpected happened," the problem may be related to your browser. One of the first steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue is to open your QuickBooks account using an incognito or private browser window. This will prevent your browser from using cached data or extensions that may interfere with the banking connection functionality. To open an incognito or private browser window:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Firefox
  • Control + Option +P if you're using Safari
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Microsoft Edge

Once you have opened the incognito or private browser, log in to your QuickBooks account and try to connect to your Santander account. If the report is not freezing, the problem is likely related to temporary internet files stored in your browsing application.

Please return to the regular browsing session and delete your temporary internet files once they work correctly. Clear your browser cache and cookies. This will remove any stored data causing conflicts with the banking connection. Additionally, you can use a different browser to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, specific browsers may not be compatible with certain features. It's also important to update your browser with the latest version. Outdated browsers can cause issues with website functionality, including banking.

After successfully connecting your bank account and downloading your transactions, you can begin reviewing each transaction in detail. This includes examining the description, amount, date, and other relevant information. By doing so, you can ensure that each transaction is accurately recorded and categorised: Categorise and match bank transactions in QuickBooks Online

Keep me posted if you need anything else about connecting your Santander bank account. I'll be right here to answer your questions. Have a great day!
