I am a recently new user to QBO (Originally a desktop user)
In some ways I find QBO great but in other ways it is incredibly difficult to work with. There is a lot of things that make no sense at all (No SKU on packing notes, no option to bulk update prices by SKU etc)
I have also noticed that the forums are full of posts from people requesting features that simply get ignored. I thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated post with a collection of requests that can be directly passed to the "management / development team" as the feedback function clearly doesnt seem to work.
At the moment I am convinced the management of QBO have never used their own software. I am also convinced that management dont focus on what users ACTUALLY need from the software, they just come up with their own bizarre ideas of what they THINK users want, and most of the time its simply wrong.
This isnt a post for conversation, if there is a feature request you think is a good idea just post the request along with a short reason why it would be good to have. Repeat requests can be made by multiple people as the more people asking for the same thing just goes to show there is more demand. I will start with a few things I can think of at the moment...........
1. SKU on packing notes - Reason, to know what part numbers need picking and packing
2. More customisation on invoices
3. Bulk CSV price updates by SKU!! Literally a spreadsheet with two columns, SKU and PRICE, that is all it needs and it will make product price updates 1000000x easier.
4. Additional decimal points on foreign currency.
Seriously QBO - START LISTENING TO WHAT YOUR USERS ARE ASKING FOR AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!
Any other suggestions please add to the post.
Hello there, @HM2019.
I understand the importance of the features you need to be added in QuickBooks Online. I want QuickBooks Online (QBO) to have this feature as much as you do.
However, QBO cannot add all the request at once. However, I strongly urge you to share your thoughts with our software engineers. They carefully examine customer feedback, especially when determining how to improve QuickBooks.
Here's how:
To help you further, I would also submit a request on your behalf for the features you need.
Also, you can visit our blog site so you'll be able to get the latest news about QuickBooks and what our Product Care Team is working on.
Let me know if you have questions about requesting features in QuickBooks Online. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.
Unfortunately your posts sentiments will fall on deaf ears. Just by the fact that the reply to your post is from a bot proves everything you’ve said in your post. They don’t listen or even care about the UK market anymore.
I’ve posted something similar threads about unwanted features, bugs, missing features, and how the feedback systems doesn’t work. It’s a sad state of affairs.
I’ve wasted about four hours over the past three weeks trying to sort out an issue with them online and on the telephone. What one of them did admit is that the feature requests are mainly for the American version/users. We’ll only be a small voice if that’s the case. Waste of time even using it.
The whole point of this post is to collect a group of uers together so it gives something to go to UK management with directly. If enough users complain then something will need to be done. One thing I cant stand is incompetence when it comes to providing a service and at the moment QBO seems a bit incompetent in its workings.
Out of interest what was the online issue you had and was it resolved? Is it a feature / bug you can add to the list?
Hello HM2019, thanks for sharing all this information on the Community page, we have passed all this information on to the relevant team.
@HM2019These forums are littered with constant complaints about various missing features or bugs. In the 18 months I've been on QBO they've appeared to fix one issue with the send forms and custom signatures. No idea when they sorted it out as they don't issue a change long for any fixes, they do for the USA version but not for the UK one, which is another bug bear. But as quickly as we discover changes they introduce more unwanted bugs and features. Such as the second change in 6 months to the menus, new report layouts.
As I mentioned I started a similar thread to try and keep a track of issues and fixes. Trouble is the forums aren’t as active as you may think. I suspect most users call the help line rather than take to the forums with issues so it’s hard to organise a constructive thread as it soon gets buried down the pages. One problem with this forum is after reading any post from page 2 onwards it always returns you to page one, so you soon lose where you were at. Intuit will probably call that a feature....
Here are all the tickets I have sent in of things we need, are bugs or would really like to see:
1. Sales Orders - We have to use Estimates as Sales Orders because that function is not available. When emailing an Estimate, despite editing the document name and the email template it Prepends the word "Estimate" to the email subject and Shows the word Estimate in the summary detail of the email body (despite renaming the form). Please start providing Sales Order functionality or at least let us properly edit the emails and forms.
2. Emails - littered with Quickbooks logos, we pay money to use your service and want to promote our brand, not yours.
3. VAT currently must be set per item, you cannot set VAT codes per customer or supplier. This is not correct, since VAT is obviously determined by supplier/delivery location. It means changing the VAT code individually in an invoice for every item when exporting.
4. Templates - Not enough editing capability and some serious flaws, such as SKU that you mention. Text that doesn't fit, overflows onto three lines.
5. Purchase Orders and Estimates are not in the menu (Bills and Invoices are). They cannot be added into Bookmarks either.
6. In various reports the "Rate" value is shown in foreign currency value but shows the home currency symbol £ .
7. On a report page, if you press Ctrl+F for the Find box, there is no way to close the box.
8. When viewing a specific customer page. the Payment Terms are not shown anywhere, you need to click "Edit" just to view them.
9. Customer payment terms not show in Estimates.
10 . Bug - On a previously saved invoice, when changing the delivery address and pressing "Save" the delivery address reverts to the old address. There is no way to print or save the amended delivery address
11. Stock pictures don't actually show in parts list
12. When we enter bank details in the provided box of the form templates, these bank details show up on all documents, even remittance advice. We cant select another (custom) template when sending e.g. remittance advice. We can't choose a default template for the various documents/transactions.
13. Documents need to have more possibilities to edit. In the only nice template (New Airy) the memo text and footer text are barely legible when printed as they are a very faint grey (particularly when printed black and white).
As an aside, there used to be a feature request page (that was not particularly easy to find). I see this has been closed. https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/forums/168199-quickbooks-online-feature-requests
To my knowledge, no updates yet.
Nope, looks like QBO still being useless listening to customer requests. If I treated my customers the same way I would be out of business in no time!
@klous-1This is typical. You'l not get a response as these forums, as I've found out, are just a portal to address problems with the site/app as it is. Requesting any new 'feature' as they like to call them. Is just a waste of time. I tired of it and decided to grin and bare it. This is of course, how Intuit operate. I'd been reporting a bug in Desktop for 8 years, they never fixed it even though they kept admitting they knew about it. Although, that was the only issue I ever needed to contact Intuit in the 23+ years I was using Desktop.
Hi Mark,
Their response is as I expected and, like you, we've been using QB for over 20 years. It's disappointing that Intuit seem to have such a lack of focus towards customers. By bumping this thread I was actually just hoping to highlight the issue (lack of customer focus and complete lack of the type of useful development we need to resolve issues).
Unless their attitude changes, I don't expect any of these issues to be fixed in the next 20 years.
I expect at some point maybe some QB staff member will put some empty words "we care about this, let me help with you that, white fluffy clouds, unrelated random words, and I'll feed this to the development team".
I'm not even sure if they have a single software developer. Perhaps they subcontract it, so these fixes and improvements are just seen as costs with no direct financial reward, better to spend the money to buy Mailchimp and get some marketing from that.
Photo of the R&D Team office attached.
I'll be back in a few months to bump the thread!

Hi all, thanks to your contributions to this thread. We've listened to your comments on the Feedback process in QuickBooks, and we've released a new QuickBooks Idea Exchange board. We'll be reviewing all ideas here and if it gets to over 50 votes, we will review them with our Product team.
wow, well this could be progress. I would actually say thank you, maybe Intuit management ARE listening.
Intuit, great idea with the new forum section. Terrible idea the fact you've not told anyone abou it. One mention of it in this thread is all I can currently see?
