I've changed from a Windows 10 laptop to a windows 11 laptop. Am attempting to get Quickbooks Pro 2010/2011 working. I have the CD, an upgrade version of QBPro 2010, and have managed to get it to install and it will run the sample company file okay. When I try to use my company file I get the following message.
"Quickbooks cannot open this company file because it was updated to a newer Quickbooks maintenance release than the one you are currently using. This file was last used with release R3. You are currently using R1."
I can't find out how to get it to update to release R3.

Are you using a QB Desktop version developed by Reckon?
Yes.
Let me share some information about updating QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release, BMB3x.
We update QuickBooks Desktop regularly to give you a better experience and fix issues. The release notes explain what's new and improved and each new update includes all the changes from earlier updates. See the screenshot below for your reference about release R3:
QuickBooks Desktop 2010 and 2011 versions are already outdated and users may not enjoy the latest available features and updates. Thus, it's one factor why you can't update it to the supported release version. We can try manually updating the software to the latest release (this may or may not work since the version is outdated). Here's how:
When the update finishes, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. To install the updates, click Yes. If the same thing happens, you can consider upgrading your QuickBooks account to the supported versions (QBDT 2020, QBDT 2021, and QBDT 2022). You can use this link as your reference: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro and Desktop Prem.
Moreover, you can browse our Help articles for additional resources when handling your account in QuickBooks.

You will have to contact Reckon in Australia (not Intuit) for the patch files and frankly I highly doubt they will help unless you are going to convert your data to their platform. You may have other options:
1. Purchase a new one time license for QB Desktop 2020 UK version and purchase a 3rd party service to convert your data from QB Desktop Reckon version to QB Desktop UK version.
2. Purchase a 3rd party service to convert data to QB Online Global version for NZ.
