How do I add a customer's new address without it changing all previous invoices when they were at their previous address?
If it cannot be done, the why can't it?
Thanks in advance.
Hello and welcome to the Community, tinap7.
You can update your customers address in QuickBooks Online by navigating to Get paid & pay (or Sales) > Customers > Select the customer you want to update > Edit. When you edit customer information, the changes will be reflected in other areas of your company file including previously sent invoices. QuickBooks Online also updates any recurring templates that use previous information like billing, shipping, and email addresses, and the preferred payment method and terms.
If you don't want this, we'd recommend creating a new customer profile as a workaround (you can edit the display name of the original to prevent confusion). To share any feedback on this, please click the Cog > Feedback in your account.
Thanks :)
Thank you. I am aware of the fix given in Help but it really isn't helpful for the address update to change every past transaction on a previous address. Can we not have an option to NOT amend the historic profile, rather than a convoluted workaround?
Hello tinap7, we agree this would be a useful option to have. Please leave feedback for this via the suggested route above - this will ensure your comments are submitted to our product development team who're able to implement such changes.
