Batch Change Stock Purchase or Sale Prices?

Let me share additional information about importing data, Mark.

When importing adjusted stock for Product & Services in QuickBooks, you'll have the option to override the identical names or combined originals with the new additions. Ensure to select the Overwrite all values for each product or service that you import with the identical name box if you want to overwrite your stock.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear or Cogwheel icon.
  2. Select Import Data.
  3. Choose the Products and Services, then Browse.
  4. Locate the file containing your updated items.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to map and upload your data.
  6. Ensure that the Overwrite all values for each product or service that you import with the identical name is selected.
  7. Once done, hit Import.

For future reference, I've included this article if you want to learn how to adjust item quantity manually in QuickBooks Online: Adjust stock quantity on hand in QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for reaching out to us, @Mark Armistead.

I have some information about editing sales prices in batches. While this option isn't available in QuickBooks, you'll want to export your product and services list, update the sales price, and then import them to QuickBooks. This way, you won't have to edit each item.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Gear.
  2. Choose Products and Services.
  3. Select the Export icon beside the Printer icon.
  4. Click Export to Excel.

With the above steps, you're now able to update the prices. Once done, import the items by going to Gear, Products and Services, New, and then selecting Import.

Thank you for the reply Shiella. That does indeed sound like a reasonable solution, although doing other bulk tasks an not this seems to be a bizarre decision.

Could you please confirm that re uploading the adjusted stock list will overwrite the stock list on the server? I’m concerned, and have read on another post on these forums that it will add and duplicate to the stock list and not replace?

Thank you I'll give it go when I need to change the pricing.

Would this also work with changing the VAT value as Intuit has deleted all my VAT values for all my stocked items due to an QBD import error on both my company files?

I've just completed my stock pricing change. I imported the spreadsheet, correct any issue and I then had duplicate of all inactive stock items. I then realised I had not checked the overwrite the same names check box ticked right at the bottom of the page.

I now have THREE versions of all inactive stock item. OBO is a JOKE. Anyone serious about running a business through this sack of rubbish should look elsewhere if moving over from Desktop.

I have over 1,000 products to change prices on. But the QB system states it cannot import more than 1,000 rows, so how do I do this without corrupting any data already in Qb?

Thanks for joining the thread, @lorraine-rossite.

In your case, since your list is longer than 1000 rows, I suggest splitting the products by 500 multiple times or smaller files. This can help import them successfully. For example, you'll have to import the first 500, then the second 500, and so on. This won't corrupt the data in QuickBooks.

You can reference this article for more details about the format to import products: Import products and services into QuickBooks Online.
