Bring the desktop company file online

I used Quickbooks Pro 2010 desktop version before and now start the Quickbooks Online version. I want to bring my company file online. Quickbooks is suggesting that I can do that in 3 steps:

Head to QuickBooks Desktop
Under the Company menu, select the option to export your company file to QuickBooks Online.
Choose what to bring over
At this step, you can decide what data to bring over and even choose the QuickBooks Online company you want it to go to.
Review what came over
Once your company file’s exported, you’ll get an email. All you have to do is, come back to QuickBooks Online and review the data we brought in for you.

Unfortunately because of having a new lapto I don't have access to the Quickbooks desptop version anymore. I do have the company file.

So, any suggestions on what to do to get this comany file uploaded online?

Your help is much appreciated.

Bring the desktop company file online

We've got a couple of suggestions to help you get your data into QuickBooks Online (QBO), Wtroost.

Since you no longer have access to QuickBooks Desktop, you'll need to install it on your new computer to move your data. If you still have the installation CD and license key for your QuickBooks Pro 2010, you can try installing it on your new laptop. Please note that this is an older version and may have compatibility issues with newer operating systems, such as Windows 10 or 11.

You can also download a copy of the software from your account management portal. You'll need your product and license numbers to install and activate the software. To learn more about moving and reinstalling the software to another computer, check out this article: Move or reinstall QuickBooks Desktop to another computer.

If you can't find your original 2010 software, you can use this 30-day trial version of QuickBooks Desktop 2021 to access and export your company file: 30-day trial version of QuickBooks Desktop 2021. Once you've installed it, open your company file, and it will prompt you to update it to that version.

Once you have installed it and your company file on your new laptop, open the file and then follow the steps to migrate your data into QBO. Refer to this article for the steps and details: QuickBooks Desktop: Discontinuation information. Then, go to the "Option 1: Migrate to QuickBooks Online" section.

To learn how your data and features will appear in QBO, refer to this article: Find out how your books will move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for the tip, this would have worked, but my company administrator didn't allow to install the software. I will continue with that last printed balances and reports and build up from there. Thanks for the assistance.
