Connect Bank not working can you please advise what the issue is. Currently when selecting connect bank nothing happens and have tried Chrome, Firefox, and Edge?

I appreciate you for performing some troubleshooting steps to connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online (QBO), michael-m. I'm here to ensure you're able to add and connect your bank to monitor your transactions and keep them up to date.

Before we start, I'd like to verify if this is the first time you're connecting your bank or not? This way I can provide an accurate solution.

We are upgrading our bank feeds to comply with the new Open Banking regulations. You can check first if your bank is supported so you can upgrade to our new connection.

If this is the first time connecting your bank account to QuickBooks, you can perform the process using a private browser. This is to isolate the issue since there are times the browser is full of frequently accessed pages, thus causing some unusual responses.

Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox or Internet Explorer)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go back to the Connect an account page to add your account. If you're able to connect, return to your regular browser and clear its cache and cookies to refresh the system. However, if the issue persists, try using other browser like Internet Explorer (IE).

Moreover, in case your bank isn't a participating financial institution, I'd suggest requesting support for your bank. To perform this, see the Request support for your bank section through this article: Find your bank account when you connect to online banking.

On the other hand, if this isn't your first time to connect the bank to the system, here are some of the possible reasons you're having trouble connecting to QBO:

  • The bank has multiple names on our list.
  • The bank is performing system maintenance.
  • There are notifications on your bank’s website that need your attention.

Let's first use your bank website's URL. This ensures you're using the correct listing. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to Banking from the left menu.
  2. Select Add account.
  3. On your bank website's screen, copy the URL and then paste it in to the Enter your bank name or URL search box.
  4. Choose the bank emblem.
  5. Manually enter your User ID and Password for the financial institution website.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Complete the extra security verification and select Connect.
  8. Select the Account type drop-down menu to your bank account.
  9. Click Connect.

Next, you can manually update your bank account to refresh the bank connection within the program. Go to the Banking menu, then select the Update button.

Then, you can sign in to your bank website to check your account page for messages or alerts. If you make changes on the website (login details), update your sign-in information in the system as well. For the complete step-by-step guide, kindly check out this article: What to do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error.

Lastly, as a workaround you can manually import your bank transactions to keep your account updated. You can refer to this article for the detailed information:

You can also share with me here the name of your financial institution. This way, I can provide the exact resolution of the issue.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help.
