Hi Dickens,
You should record the transactions spend on the credit card, when you spend them, using Expense for example. You can create a Credit Card Account on QB, and just use a Transfer from Current account - to Credit Card, but that won't itemize transactions within the payment.
As a workaround, You can itemize the transactions within the payment, if when recording the transactions spent on the credit card, you record these as coming from "Undeposited Funds" - That way, when you record the payment to the Credit Card Company, you can select the expenses you've marked as "Undeposited Funds". You'll have a record of the induvidual expense and each purchase, and a record of the payments you've included in paying off the card. It's an additional step, which you can take if you wish.
Thank you James C for your reply to my question re. entering individual transactions from a Credit Card payment. I will give your second option a try. This is a secondary Credit Card we use for business and personal. The main Credit Card payment was entered via a Transfer (not Add) from the Bank current a/c. I was the advised that I could enter the individual transactions if I click on the plus then journal entry, showing Debit & Credit. I'll see how I get on!

This answer makes no sense?? Several months ago, I could itemize a Credit Card payment from the Checking Account screen. Now I can't. What are the steps to itemize the automatic payments for the current version of QB Online? I call into the credit card company, make the payment on the phone, then it is processed through Quickbooks. Please: Step 1; Step 2; Step 3.
I think Quickbooks has become a predatory operation. It is in excusable that QB no longer uses the terms "post" and "itemize" and that I have to do a search to find the answers to my questions.
Hi qb11, we'd be happy to help with this. Please note as this is an old thread, any steps given may relate to a previous layout of QuickBooks. Are you using the US or UK version of QuickBooks?
