What older versions of Quickbooks Pro Desktop will work with Windows 11? Has Microsoft removed any core functions eg related to IE on which older versions may depend?
I'm assuming testing has been done using the Windows 11 beta.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Worked with the beta of Win11 when I tried it a few months ago. ATM not interested in upgrading as 11 gives nothing other than a different look and is not designed for seasoned users.
I am not sure they will share anything about Win 11 at the moment. We have to wait until QBD 2022 released in Q4 2021 later.
You are probably right. A potential disaster awaits.
If you are correct that QBDT 2022 will be required to support Windows 11 this is a profit bonanza for Intuit. We recently upgraded to QBDT 2021, and would not normally expect to upgrade again until 2024 (the three year maintenance cycle).

Curious to see what happens with accounting professionals that routinely have to work with a client's older version of QBD. I always recommend upgrading versions that are no longer supported but the fact is, for mom and pop businesses without payroll requirements that are still trying to recover from the loss of revenue in 2020, the recommendations to upgrade are a hard sell.

Bear in mind, they decided not to release QBD 2022 UK version. You can still purchase the one time license of QBD 2019 UK if required.
I just installed Quickbooks POS 18 on a windows 11 machine and the QB update does not seem to work as it will not download the required updates to match the POS server version 18.2.
Also seems intuit has removed version 18 from their downloads.
Windows 11 provides significant security enhancements, provided your machines meet the hardware requirements. Having been hit by ransomware in the past, we were highly motivated to move to Windows 11. Unfortunately, after the "no go-back" period, we started experiencing "Lost connection to the company file" errors. We are running in single-user mode, QBDT Non-Profit Premium 2021. We have tried every posted technique we could find to fix the problem, but we have not had any success. A call to QB tech support reveals they have been working on this since Oct 2021 and have no solution. Not even a recommendation to migrate to QB 2022. Fortunately, we have a spare PC with Windows 10 and we will transfer QB 2021 to it. The error occurs randomly within an hour of opening a company file, forcing QB to close.
Just to clarify your concern, is your company located in UK and using QB Desktop 2021 UK version?

Unless you bought a new PC with Win 11 pre-installed, don't upgrade to Win 11 for now. We expect Intuit to announce something related to Win 11 and/or IE 11 as soon as May/June.
The "three year maintenance cycle" is history with QB 2021. It is the last version that will last 3 years, and there is not a copy on the planet to be found. I know. I tried. True to their unethical predator pricing QB is so well known for, 2022 and later is available by yearly SUBSCRIPTION. For us, that amounts to $300 per user per year instead of $300 per user for 3 years. Additionally, they are doubling the payroll from $300 per year to $50 per month, PLUS $2.00 per employee/month! After 20 years of being jerked around by the wallet, I am done and will go back to a DOME book before I pay their ransom. Finally, to insure they can bilk as much as possible from their loyal client base, if you let your QB 2022 or greater subscription lapse, YOU CANNOT LOG INTO QB. IT WILL STOP WORKING. Even though it is your data, you will not be able to access it to export, view or anything else unless you pay the ransom.

You can still purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 US version or QBD 2020 UK version from limited partners. Contact us in private for assistance. One of QB Desktop's closest competitors has also announced their plan to offer only subscription plans within this year.
