My posts on other threads are being ignored by Quickbooks representatives for weeks on end, so I am starting another thread here.
Quickbooks representatives have confirmed that QBSE "will not fully satisfy or provides HRMC request for more detailed financial information if your business needs complex accounting features since QBSE only has basic features." (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-uk/other-questions/please-can-someone-explain-how-to-...)
Quickbooks representatives have also confirmed that QBSE is not suitable for HMRC requirements for MTD (Making Tax Digital).
QBSE is therefore not suitable to be sold and marketed as an Accounting Software for Self Employed businesses and should not be advertised as such.
This is a request for Intuit / Quickbooks to be honest and transparent with their customers about the limitations of the product that is being marketed and advertised as 'Accounting Software' - it is NOT effective Accounting Software - it is an aid to completing the Tax Return - this is the only feature that is is capable of doing.
QBSE is currently being mis-sold to to customers who are needing an Accounting Software for their Self employed businesses.
If QBSE are advertising this as Accounting Software, they need to provide features like Custom Categories, which will help towards making their product suitable for MTD and suitable for HMRC if they request to see a business's accounts.
We understand your concerns about feeling ignored by the previous representative. We’re here to help clarify and answer any questions you have about customizing transaction categories in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).
QBSE is tailored for self-employed individuals, offering key features needed to manage finances effectively. While it has fewer features than QuickBooks Online (QBO), it is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of the self-employed.
QBSE offers features that help users track income, expenses, and tax deductions, estimate quarterly taxes, and automatically import and separate business and personal transactions. These tools are ideal for self-employed individuals seeking simple yet effective financial management without the complexity of advanced accounting systems.
If this persists, I recommend reaching out to our Support Team for assistance, as they can look into the issue to investigate this matter.

Hello MsNorthPND18,
Thanks for your reply.
However - your reply has ignored most of the issues that I was raising.
QBSE does NOT meet the Accounting needs of any self employed business while it does not provide the ability to customise categories that are relevant to the business. These are not 'complex' accounting features as you claim, but standard features that any business would need from Accounting Software.
QBSE does not provide these - QBSE would not be acceptable as business Accounting by HMRC or for MTD - as stated by a Quickbooks representative in the link I provided.
Therefore - please be honest and transparent with your customers - stop advertising it as Accounting Software - or start providing the featured that are required to make it a proper and effective Accounting software.
Currently it is only an aid to completing a tax return - not an Accounting software.
Any real Accounting software should be acceptable by HMRC and MTD as business accounts.
Once again this has been ignored by QB representatives for over a week.

Intuit & Quickbooks should either be honest with customers in their advertising and marketing - that QBSE IS NOT PROPER ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE - or provide customers with the features necessary to make it proper accounting software.
