Quickbooks desktop is only being killed off in the UK

I had assumed that the move by Intuit to kill off QB desktop and force us onto their rubbish online system was a global decision ?

NO - in the USA they recently released QB desktop 2023....!

QBD 2023 is available in the USA - new features added....

SO WHY CANT THEY SUPPORT FOR UK ??

Quickbooks desktop is only being killed off in the UK

Hi skinnerneil, our decision to discontinue QuickBooks Desktop in the UK is based on, amongst other factors, market conditions and ensuring we can stay up to date with digital tax changes - we apologise that you are dissatisfied with this. 🙇‍:female_sign:

I would not mind if the tools you are putting out actually worked.

MMB is not fit for purpose - they say it is your fault due to limitations created by Intuit.

And we have 3 months for you to try and solve this plus give us more detail about the read only function for QBD after you hit the kill switch.

How many other QDB UK customers with multicurrency do you have ?

We're sorry for the frustration caused by this, skinnerneil, and we'll be releasing further details of our QuickBooks Desktop Export Tool in the coming weeks. This can be used to view historical data including sales, purchase invoices, and reports for up to seven years and will be accessible via the web browser when you need it. We'll be sending steps on how to use and access this later this month via email to all registered DT users.

Been using desktop since 2008, Only notified by postcard two weeks ago that desktop was being closed in a couple of weeks, No information regarding read only data received yet, Trying online but this doesn’t have the functionality of desktop and virtually impossible to import products/ items, estimates and various other files. Just a few weeks until shut down and we don’t have a suitable account’s system in place yet,  Extremely poor support and consideration for its customers from Intuit.

@Kevin511

If your company is located in UK, you can check MMB to convert your data to QB Online UK version.

But if you are not located in UK or you need to convert data with specific requirements (e.g multi currency, estimates, attachments), you may consider to buy a 3rd party service to convert your data to QB Online or another cloud based accounting app. You may also consider to use QB Desktop US version.

Tried MMB (Move my Books)  As you know this only moves essential data, This is a link provided by quickbooks which shows its limitations   https://movemybooks.co.uk/move-to-quickbooks/limitations-of-service-quickbooks/

The rest have to be done manually, I have in excess of 3000 items and products, countless estimates and other data which MMB will not transfer. Do you have a solution to move this data  to enable us to use Online ?

@Kevin511

You can buy a 3rd party service to convert your data with specific requirements (e.g estimates). Another option, you can use a migration tool. i.e TPExporter for Desktop and TPImporter for Online.

https://get.transactionpro.com/qbo

We have found that recently QBO's API has been updated and due to this, we are not providing track inventory service. However, we can bring inventory details like name, code, description, sales account, purchase account, sales price, purchase price, etc. We can import all the items as "non-inventory" type in QBO and after the completion of the migration, your team needs to manually change the type non-Inventory to Inventory and add the quantity on hand manually for each item.

You shouldnt expect your customers to have to buy or suggest they buy third party software to convert data when transferring data between Quickbooks products,

Quickbooks should have made sure that all data could be transferred seamlessly between their products before closing desktop down.

Once again this action shows no consideration whatsoever for your customers.
