Resizing "Pay Bills" box

This has been an irritating problem for me through several versions of Quickbooks Desktop.  I am currently using QB Premier Accountant 2020.

Most boxes, such as Write Cheque, Reports, etc. etc. can be resized to fit the PC screen using either the corner grabs or the side grabs.  The only one which I have never been able to resize is the "Pay Bills" box.  I can alter the width of the columns (which in turn ends up with very odd widths) but not the actual box - neither to make narrower vertically or horizontally.  Is this an anomaly or is there a way to do this?

I read elsewhere to alter the Compatibility settings via the QB Icon, but it must have been old instructions for older Windows 10, and in any case, as I said, I can change most other boxes.

Thanks

Hi there, @SheilaMcC.

Sizing display issues in your QuickBooks Desktop can still be fixed by changing the display settings. Let's try modifying your QuickBooks DPI settings first to check if this will resolve the issue.

Here's how:

  1. Close your QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Right-click the QuickBooks icon, then select Properties.
  3. On the Compatibility tab, select Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.
  4. Select Apply, then OK.
  5. Open QuickBooks again and check to see if you can resize the Pay Bills box.

If the issue persists, please refer to this article for more troubleshooting steps: Fix screen issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

As always, feel free to visit our QuickBooks Community help website if you need tips and related articles in the future.

Please keep in touch if there's anything else I can do to help you succeed with QuickBooks. I've got your back. Have a great day and keep safe.

Resizing "Pay Bills" box

Good morning Mark_R.  I have added a screen shot of the QB Properties Compatibility TAB.  As you can see, there is not an option "Disable display scaling on high DPI setting".  Instead, I opened "Change high DPI settings" and the right half of the screen shot shows you the options given.  I run Windows 10 Home 64-bit, OS build [removed]

thank you

Hello SheilaMcC,

Thanks for the screenshot, could I also ask you to send over a screenshot of the 'pay bills' box as you see this so we can look into this further?

Hello SheilaMcC,

So having looked into this the way to change the size of the Pay Bills box is

if you click on the maximized at first

It will then let you change the size of the box- screenshots to show you.

Your links take me to an enterprise web address.  I have attached a screen shot here (QBDT C)

Anyway - without seeing the screenshots you were trying to show me, maximizing does not give the option to resize.

To clarify, say the box is currently taking up two thirds of my screen, and I want to reduce the box to taking up only one third of the screen, I can't.  In the current "floating" state (tiny twin boxes) I can change the size to a bigger floating box, but it won't reduce any further than what it opens up as. Thanks
