Hello Thelocumnurse, thanks for posting on this thread, what happens when you try and change the information? Do you get any error messages or codes showing at all? What exactly happens when you do them steps?
The telephone number on my invoice is incorrect, I have tried to change it in the manner you suggest but it does not save and inputs the old number. I use Quick book self employed
I appreciate you for joining the thread, @Lewisbatesoncentre. I can share with you some additional information about updating the telephone number on your invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).
If you're referring to the company's or work's phone number, you can follow the suggested steps provided by GarlynGay above to change the number.
If you're trying to update the customer's telephone number, follow these steps:
In case you're having a hard time changing the number, I'd suggest replicating the steps through a private window. A browser's cache may affect the issue of why you can't save and input the number.
To save you time, use either of these keyboard shortcuts:
If it works fine, go back to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. You can also use another supported and up-to-date browser to narrow down the result.
Once done, you're now ready to track your invoices with the new telephone number. For additional resources about the invoicing feature in QBSE, you can open this article: Create invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I am using the Quickbooks desktop version 2022 and I am not seeing the gear icon or anything else to edit the telephone number on the invoice.
The whole Community welcomes you, @Bryan Hopkins
and we look forward to a successful journey with you!
The gear icon and the steps provided by my colleague above are available only for QuickBooks Online. Worry less! Now that I'm here, I would be more than grateful to help and provide you with the guidelines on how to edit the telephone number on the invoice on your QuickBooks Desktop. You may want to customise your Templates to view the details of your Invoice form.
From there, we can ensure that the next time you print the form, you'll have the correct telephone number printed on the Invoice.
To customize a template, follow these steps:
To learn more about using and customizing form templates in QBDT, please see this article: Use and customise form templates.
You can follow the steps listed in this article if you need to run customer reports such as Open Invoices: Customise customer, job, and sales reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
For additional QuickBooks-related concerns, don't hesitate to post them here in the Community. We're always available and willing to lend a hand to your queries. Have a great day ahead.
I have tried your solution several times and it is not working for me.
I am losing my landline next week and I need to change the number to my mobile ..... but when I enter my mobile it wont save it.
I have the Union Jack for UK I have tried 44.... then buy number less the 0 but it wont save... tried the number with 44 and the 0 .... still doesn't work
The save stays pale and wont save .... wasted two hours looking for the answer trying to solve art and getting nowhere.
Is there anything else I can try
Kim Sharon
Hi Kim, thanks for joining this thread. We'd like to make sure you're able to update the contact number on your account.
When entering a number with the +44-dialing code, the first zero should be dropped. If the save option is greyed, try using a different web browser or private browsing window to update the number.
If you still have access to QuickBooks, you can update your number by clicking your initial in the top-right corner > Manage your Intuit Account (Take me there) > Sign in & security.
If you no longer have access, instead see the option to Recover your Intuit Account. Thanks for reaching Intuit support. We'll be here if you need any further guidance.
