Hi All
I'm about to sell my business, as part of the deal he gets all supplier and customer information including historical transactions. How do I transfer all this data to his quickbooks online account?
Allan
Why don't you consider just transferring your Primary Admin access to the new owner? Unless you only need to transfer CoA and Lists (vendor, customer, item, employee) with no transactions.
Hi, @atdmotorservices. I'm here to help you transfer the data to the new business owner.
You can transfer the data by exporting and importing the list in QuickBooks. To get started, you'll have to export your reports to Excel. Depending on what list you need to export, search for and run Account List, Customer Contact List, or Supplier Contact List report.
To export data, here's how:
Once done, they can import them to their QuickBooks Online account. For detailed steps on importing each list, you can view this article: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online.
For the transactions, manually enter them into your company. This is to ensure all the data is recorded in QBO.
Also, you can consider using a third-party application that will help you transfer the data. Just visit our QuickBooks App Center and look them over to get a better comparison of these apps to see if one meets your needs.
I'm adding this article to answer the most commonly asked questions about importing data to QBO: FAQs about importing data to QuickBooks Online. It includes topics about the info you can import and importing a particular record from your contact list, to name a few.
