Welcome to the Community space, @sipkey. I'll share some insights into why you're unable to submit a Vat return as the HMRC shows offline.

The HMRC has planned downtime for Friday 23 June 2023 11:30 am to 7 am Monday 26 June 2023. Due to scheduled maintenance, you will be unable to access the VAT registration and VAT submission services during those days.

However, you will still be able to view or change your VAT information during this time. That said, I'd suggest submitting your VAT return after the scheduled maintenance.

For now, I'll be sharing these resources that can help you with your VAT returns before submitting them to HMRC:

If you have more questions regarding this or any QuickBooks concerns, feel free to comment back below. I'll be here to help. Have a great day.

Having the same problem since yesterday. HMRC was officially offline until 9pm last night, but is still offline today.  Is this an HMRC problem or a Quickbooks problem or a me problem?

Hi IainMac, it can take a few hours after maintenance for the services to return to normal level. Do the start and end dates of your open period in QuickBooks match what HMRC are expecting for the next submission, and have you submitted via QuickBooks previously?
